LOL I guess I'll just have to keep enjoying my nonsense then Leigh. The thing is, you probably never even tried it. If you had you wouldn't disagree with me, guaranteed.
LOL as usual, to some it's not a real photograph unless it is b&w printed archivally on silver.... just go about your business and be happy. And yes I did say "business"... ;)
If you simply shake it well ahead of time and divide as I described there will be no issues. I have been doing it for years with absolutely no ill effects. So... either I am just a lucky guy or this salesman's theory really is as much bunk as it sounds like.
The role of the printing method is very important to consider, particularly if you plan on working 100% analogue. In that case, should you want to do alt printing processes (most of which require contact prints) then you will want a larger neg. People who do Pt/Pd or such may well advise you...
Yes it can work on the RB; you just pull out two small pins (very easy) and it fits normally. However, you will have no shutter control... so you either have to rely on the mirror (which is okay for long exposures) or you can hand shutter, which is okay down to 1/16 or so as long as you're not...
LOL
Sex?! Naughty lad, I was referring to the blossoming of a flower, the taste of a tart cherry... okay I meant sex ;)
But seriously: there is financial worth in owning / investing in something will be there for a long time. E.g. the bricks of your house. But suppose you make a really...
Take the larger bag, mix it thoroughly, pinch it off half way.. no air will reach the unused portion. Aha! Tie it off, and that half bag is now as virgin and untouched by the foul elements as before; if any air is in there, it was the exasperated last gasp of a Kodaker in the factory...
If I...
But it is also very valuable.

I agree with Steve; if I hadn't simply done my own experiments, I wouldn't have discovered that what some people were saying was complete parroted nonsense. Not just in this case but in many others cases where somebody said you can't, you shouldn't...
Great work. I really like the lack of clear scale cues. Perhaps for that reason, to my eye, it appears almost like an abstract 2D painting- only the clouds break the illusion slightly. Definitely print this and print it well!
P.S. Let me just clarify, in my comments above, please read "process" as output (i.e. printing) process. But there is alarger process that all photographers undertake. For many of us, that process begins long before printing or even before capture. E.g. anticipating a photograph and pursuing...
Yes I am also sure that process does matter to Thomas, but he can reasonably choose not to emphasize it...
I think the point is that if the output is just about process rather than artistic vision, then it is... just process. When I see an image that is all about process alone, and I don't...
Interesting and relevant, Neil Young's thoughts on the matter....

I agree and wrote a little APUG blog post on the topic of Scale and the Photographic Print, in case it might interest you:
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)
The bottom line is that there is only one print size immune to critique about whether it's too big or too small...
True but there are some ultra-freaking-wide nikkors , even zooms, that are en par with the best RF lenses, including distortion. Lens manufacture has come a very long way in the past few years.
I'm not disagreeing with you strongly, and I do adore my RFs, I am just sayign that it's not...
Michael that distinction was more true ten years ago or so, but is basically moot now. Corrections are very, very good now. A high end SLR lens is easily en par with a high end RF lens... long, normal or wide. And part of the reason for that is that Bayer digital urgently forced lensmakers to...
Fair enough... and this will of course be a one-sided discussion. But stepping back from all that, I would say that if there is a real harmony between the image and the output method then the value will be higher. Regardless of the output method. 'Nuff said ;)
Absolutely.
There are [at least] two fairly orthogonal ways to define value in a print:
(1) The "market" value, related to supply and demand; and
(2) The "artistic" value, which may have no relation to (1) at all and has more to do with the artistic merits as recognized by those wishing...
Well, there is a difference between printing big and capturing big. Capturing big leads to "DOF challenges" but also very impressive tonality throughout the focus transitions and of course negs that are a joy to contact print.
Bah... I'm not going to get drawn into one of these format...
If you do go for a mamiya 645 slr, my vote for a starter kit would be for the 645 pro and an 80/1.9, which is very bright and good for learning WLF focus. Next you can add a prism and winder. It's a very nice, modular kit. The minor drawback of the pro is that it's not 100% mechanical- you do...
15 hours, on your way to India, hmm... what about A Passage to India by E. M. Forster.
WBM2 is too dang big to carry, sorry Ralph!
The Herrigel book is thought-provoking, and compact. I reviewed it on Amazon and on here too I think, and it is definitely a must-read for photographers. But I...
Rakeshmravi, I am not buying what you said; I see noticeable differences just between different Nikon lenses... e.g the many different 50mm lenses. Granted, the differences have more to do with out of focus rendition and such. But for 35mm, the optical quality of the lens most certainly does...
