Oh I agree completely, Ron.
Too many people rely on debt, routinely, to live. And the debt cycle is sustainable only as long as there is steady growth. But when that growth sputters, the whole thing comes crashing down like a massive Ponzi scheme.
Anyway, I can report that most people in my...
I suppose that's because of the auto-leveling software. It sees the sprocket holes and includes that white space in the exposure calculation. If you crop out the sprocket holes in your scan software, you may see a better result.
Trust me it's not worth it! Those kinds of discussions are best had when you know the person on the other side of the table. Otherwise you may find out the other guy is clueless and you wish you could take back the time you put into attempting to have a rational discussion...
That's true Ron. What has changed the most over the past few decades in the area of personal finance is that the concept of building up a savings has steadily eroded. Until the credit crunch of '08/09, a lot of people were living on plastic and assuming they would always be able to do so...
Hi, I see them on ebay from time to time. If you just go there you will find some. Note that they often come with plate backs, which you can easily modify for film. They are not very different from the other cameras mentioned here... koronas etc.
Here is a link...
Fuji 64T or something similar. Open aperture, pick a longish fast lens e.g. a 50/1.4 or such. Find polaris; that will help you know what you'll get. Expose for a few hours. Simple simple. Have fun.
I have two ~100 year old wooden poco cameras... one is 5x7 and the other 8x10, and I think either would be very well suited to your needs. They are extremely light, and only needed a tiny of work to get them in perfect operating condition. They cost me about $300 apiece, including convertible...
But Krugman says there's no problem! Maybe he'll divert some of his Nobel winnings to your retirement account...
But seriously, what happened is that the social security fund(s) were never intended to become a retirement account. There is a big difference between a minimal safety net and a...
Oh! Okay, yeah should be normal after that. I would check with your sacrificial roll and make sure it properly advances through the end before cutting down anything precious. Depending on the winding mechanism, you might be able to score a few extra frames.
Here's a thread discussing the...
LOL don't even bother! haven't we had enough of those threads... ;) Sometimes you just have to take what you know and put it to good use and let forum experts amuse themselves.
Not sure what you mean by #w, but what I did is wind it first on to another 120 spool and then wind it onto the 127 spool. Sounds harder than it is, but you end up with everything okay. It might be possible to configure a bulk loader to wind it more easily, I'll check when I get time.
I...
Thanks. I just used an RA4 kit, I forget which, but it has two part colour developer and two part blix, both liquid. You mix those with warm water and agitate for 45 sec in the CD and 45 in the blix and rinse, that's it. I didn't even measure temp or time it carefully or anything. If it...
Not too much longer. At least in my yashica 44, it fits well. It may not look like it, when you compare the spools, but the core of the 120 spool is much wider, so it just makes the wound film look a lot fatter. The core of the 127 spool is really skinny, which makes it a bit of a pain to...
Ah yes, the predictable Nobel comment. One of the most controversial modern economists and yet because of the Nobel, the masses treat his every word like gospel. Fortunately, some of us don't place all of our faith in theory.
By the way, at no point have I declared or implied any agreement...
Ah yes well Krugman is well known for almost always taking the view that spending is good and cutting is bad. Even if you agree that we should've had more stimulus, most of Krugman's ideas are politically impossible. And his usual defense is: look! we haven't seen substantial inflation or big...
It's complicated ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Security_Trust_Fund#Recent_attention
Basically, the health of the trust fund relies on the health of the Federal bond market; there is no stack of gold or whatever that is set aside. So borrow-and-spend practices directly endanger...
In this particular case, apparently it is. There should be an entirely separate entity, though... and most Americans have that, as far as I know. It's true though, it should be the rule that retirement savings are legally separate. But then we have the Federal govt dipping into social...
Not sure exactly what is being discussed any more but... I agree with Ron and I sure hope that he and other Kodak colleagues are compensated. This situation is really tragic for people who contributed so much and placed their faith in Kodak.
What happened to Kodak could (and eventually will)...
To me, "magic" = great and/or characteristically special performance for a great price. In that spirit, the "magic" RB lenses are the 65 KL, 127 KL, 150SF, and the 210 KL. The KLs are very sharp, have very good neutrality, low distortion, etc. The SF is very sweet if soft/bokeh control is...
Yep I guess that's what Richard means. I saw something a lot lighter that looked like it might do the job. Anything that has an easily replaceable or sharpenable blade should work.
And it'd be best to have some sort of "stop" to make sure it's cut at the right place... maybe I'll make a...
