I'm not sure about lightening the lower area as it anchors the print very well as it is. If you do, I would only bring it up about one half a stop or so. Much more or so will will very possibly push the whole thing badly out of balance right badly. As it is I rather like the print a lot..... Logan

This here is a very very fine print a nd makes me want to rush some where and buy a Hasselblad 503CW, Makro-Planar 120mm lens but as long as 1) there is no camera shop locally and 2) I don't have the $$$ for one anyway I guess I shall not get one today or tomorrow. However this image is an...

    Bronica SQ-a?

Sounds like q pretty fair deal to me, a Bronica user for 25 years now. though I must admit I use Hasselbleep stuff too. The Zenzanon lenses are so very close to Zeiss it is hard to tell the difference in most cases. Neither will pass a a real drop test.... just don't do it. Right now I don't...

    Is this environmentally responsible?

They did pave the way for fulminate of mecury and many uses have been found for that .... those of us who participated in the SE Asian War Games in 1961-1975 found many uses for that stuff as well as amonium iodide which was a fun explosive to play with in the Delta, having done so myself as a...

SL66 User Group Count me in for a SL66 User group too. And I'm willing and able to offer any help needed to make such a thing happen and the sooner the better. As an aside, my trip to the National Monument thingy in Utah/Arizona was all SL66 work and how they did come out. Best camera still...

    Split Grade Printing?

I learned it from Al Weber some years back and have never looked back. Do it all the time. Nothing has ever worked better and it will revolutionize your printing and you will get to an final print much more quickly. Trust me. I'm a Naval Officer and we NEVER lie. We cannot do it. So you now know...
  18. Comment by 'whlogan' in media 'St. John's Bridge, Portland, OR'

Well, whatever exposure you used, it was correct for certain. The balance could not be better. It is very well done, Sir. I find now after doing this for nearly 60 years that somehow we seem to just "know" how and "what" to do in these situations. and it works. It must be rather like muscle...

I might be done with 645 as a system

Well, whatever camera/lens/developer/technique you may have used in the photograph of the carousel, the result seem almost liquid and may simply slip off the page! It is simply splendid. Perfect! If it is the old Heliar, I have seem some of these old Heliars that have that effect and the ability...

    Tri-X in Rodinal or Diafine?

Well, Sir, I am that TriX/Diafine guy you have been looking for. I have been shooting TriX @ 800 and developing it in Diafine for about 2 years now and I must say i have no complaits at all. I do use an Orange #22 or a red @25 or @29 filter nearly all the time for outside shots. I am lucky...

    Fuji GW690II

I have a II and is a truly super camera in all respects. Big great negatives. I did a trip to Glacier with the trusty 4x5 amd my two GW690's one a III and the II. It turned out I shot them way more than the 4x5 and got negatives that are just as good as 4x5's! Lots of detail and plenty of...
  27. What is photography for you?

Photography is something I HAVE to do. It is my way of trying to find the universe I really live in. It stops things and people in time dead cold for that one single moment and I can see them fully for that moment as they really are there. Then I can learn them or it if it, the subject...
