Zeiss Ikon ZM: DIY focus calibration?

I dropped my ZM on the floor and although it was in a soft case, it lost infinity alignment.

Should I risk a DIY repair? I understand these are the steps:




but I am afraid to mess my camera. Sending it to Zeiss means hundreds of euros and a month's time...

Very nice video. I'd give it a go if it were mine and it was giving incorrect focus. I wouldn't do it just to make it perfect, only for usability. It would be nice to find another video or explanation just to make sure one understands the actual adjustment process. And until about 17 minutes, I'd put a body cap on the camera. Why not? Protect those inside things.

Careful with the camera top hanging on those wires.

I don't have all those tools. I'm missing the pin wrench and maybe one of the dental tools. That stuff is easy to find.
If you don't want to do it or you're not good with similar projects, then find a local repair person to do. It should take a factory technician to do this.

If it is out of alignment because of a drop then something has probably slipped a cog. If you can, find what slipped out of place and put it back. Alignment may not be the best solution - it might be OK at infinity but be off at close distances, and things like that.
