Hi Bateteur,

Yes, she's in great nick. Not my first rangefinder though, just my first M. Used to own a R3a. Currently own a Epson R-D1 and Mamiya 7, both used regularly. Time to see what all the fuss is about. Some from my first film. Taken in the Frankfurt Modern Art gallery.

Cheers - John

And the results are great too, looks like a long term and fruitful relationship.

Got very lucky and bought a Yashica 35, which looked terrible in the auction, but only needed some superficial cleaning up to make it look as good as it seems to work.

Voigtlander Vitessa Victory!!

After weeks - months - a long time looking I finally found on ebay the dedicated lens shade for my barndoor Voigtlander Vitessa L. While it was still more than I wanted to pay it does come with a leather case to hold it and three filters, which as Vitessa fans know are made of Unobtanium. And I have three of these little gems! Bwahahahaha.... [laughs hysterically and mumbles something about My Precious....]

I finally got it !

My next RF purchase will be a Titanium Contax G-2
with a 35 - 70 mm zoom lens.

I do have to say that despite the opinion of
Roger W. Hicks, I love the fact that the Contax G-2
is considered a Rangefinder camera, for the purposes
of this forum.

I just got the Titanium Contax G-2 with a 35 - 70 mm zoom lens.

I'm still in a state of shock, when I think about it.

I bought it from my doctor. We had agreed on a price for the body alone.
I had stated my intention in June 2011. I said that I would have the money
for the body alone by Sept. We closed the deal, in the beginning of Dec.
I told him that he could get more for it on eBay, but he said that this would
be fine. " Anything to make the patient happy."

I asked him to bring a lens with it so I can test both of them. He had
previously told me that he only had the 45 & 90 mm lenses.
I asked him to bring a body cap with him as I was buying a bare body.
He said that he didn't have one. He then told me, that the camera was
in his car & that not to worry, he would include the lens with the camera.

When he walked in, I tried to identify the mounted lens, but I couldn't
at first. When I picked up the body & lens, they felt heavier than I was
used to. When I looked closely at the lens, I saw the zoom ring & I
was floored. It was the desired 35 - 70 mm zoom lens. I couldn't
test them because the batteries were dead.
He had left the power switch on.

I again reminded him that he could sell " this " on eBay, but he said
that selling it to me was fine. He wanted someone else to enjoy it.
He also said that if I had any trouble with it, I could return it for a
Full Refund. I said Thank You & hurried out of his office.

It had been sitting in a drawer & had gotten dusty. Also when I
removed the lens from the body, there was this blue goo, that
was all over the lens / body mount, but thankfully not on the
lens elements, ( I think it's lube ).

So now I need to send it to Tocad, for repair. Yes, I could return
it, but will I ? Not on your life.

eBay says that the camera by itself is worth between $400.00 - $600.00.
The zoom lens is worth between $550.00 - $750.00. The combined value
with a 200 flash which was also included is around $1,000.00, or so.

Oh and how much did I pay for this complete kit ? $300.00 !

MIRACLES STILL DO HAPPEN.

Just won a clean looking uncoupled rangefinder Agfa Isolette over at shopgoodwill.com. Comes with a leather case. This is a late model Isolette III with the Solinar 75mm f/3.5 and synchro compur shutter. Can't say I stole it -- had to pay $90 for it, but from what I've read about this model so far, it compares very favorably with such greats as the Zeiss Super Ikontas. I would have preferred a coupled rangefinder, but oh well, can't have it all.

Finally arrived! Pretty much the only good camera I have at the moment. Second hand G2 with 45mm, will get a couple more lenses down the road finances permitting. Really looking forward to having this with me on our 7 day road trip to Dunedin (we're moving from Auckland to Dunedin in Jan). I plan to shoot HP5 & Perceptol

It looks a pearler — is it minty? And Contax is a name that always gets a heads-up.
I love Dunedin, Sean, especially the railway station gardens and Varsity of Otago; a couple of favourite set-down places for morning lattés in that octagon, too.

It's very mint, the body and lens almost seem new out of the box. I'm always worried buying used kit since I'm overseas but this turned out better than expected. I found it through http://camerawest.com/ and their pricing was better than more worn kit on ebay. Looking forward to using it, also can't wait to be in the South Island.

Any G2 tips appreciated!

Have had my G2 for a month or so now, I've two tips for you:
- It may be automatic but concentrate when taking shots, which is good advice anyway but the G2 will punish you for being lazy.
- Google for G2 focus tips and work out how to use the focus lock; it's not a snapshot camera, you have to focus first and then compose.

Get the hang of it (as I'm just starting to) and the G2 will reward with amazingly sharp images.

Have fun!

Actually, I will weasel on this one: My next purchase - a Leica 28mm Summicron M ASPH lens - awaits availability. Currently, B&H lists these lenses as backordered by Leica. So...when they finally do arrive, my AMEX is at the ready!

Finally found a 100mm RF645 Bronica at a price too good to defer purchasing any longer. A body and the lens is on its way back from Tamron with the frame lines adjusted for it but a a test roll before I sent it in shows it to be a nice piece of glass.

Vitessa L lens hood arrives!

The lens hood and case for same and filters for my Voigtlander Vitessa L arrived in time for Christmas shooting. The hood is in wonderful condition and the leather case in slightly worn but entirely useable shape. It can slip on to the V's everready case strap, a good thing since the V won't fold with the hood mounted. With this newest arrival and the three filters I already had I'm good to go! Unless other filters show up on ebay....
