My "most recent rangefinder purchase?"

A brace of Koni-Omega Rapid-M 120 roll film cameras with different lenses. One of them did not have the side grip, but one of those is on the way to me for that one. A nice combination. As a point of information, they did come from another APUG member, MattKing.

Gee, does this mean that I can post this announcement in two (2) places; here and in Medium Format?

I just picked up 2 Olympus XAs They're quite fun to use.

Someday I'll have my Leica. If I wasn't tethered to my digital gear for work I would sell it all in a heartbeat for an M9 and a couple lenses. I could probably easily fund it all too haha.

I bought a Canon QL19, works well, but doesn't fit my hands well. A week later I found an Olympus 35UC which feels right - and I got it out of a "junk" bin for 1,000 yen (about $13). Works great.

Where did you get the repair done ?

I just got a 35 SP from the local auction house, apparently a bit scarce and the 7 element 1.7 Zuiko lens has quite a reputation.
Near mint cosmetically although shutter appears to be jammed

Picked up a Kiev 4a and three J8s for it. I'll sell two of them in the near future. I overpaid - $95 for the set - but the camera seems to be in good condition so I'm okay with it.

I've had an itch to try a camera like this since stumbling across a Contax III that needed repair. I sold it as getting it working was beyond my means but not before getting a sense of how it felt in my hands.

Have an Olympus RC coming from a member here on APUG. This was originally the rangefinder I was looking for. Photos look real nice, and it's fully functional. Hopefully was sent out today. Really looking forward to getting this.Should make a nice carry camera. It will be my first rangefinder.

Also ended up winning an auction for a Yashica Electro 35 GSN. New light seals and recent CLA, in near mint condition. Photos looked great. 14 day inspection period, advertised as fully functional with bright finder and accurate focusing. Includes the Yashica Guy's battery adapter and a new battery. It also is on it's way.

I've done it again, gotten too many irons in the fire and end up with two cameras when I only intended to buy one. No one else does that I'm sure!!!!

You should like the GSN I have a GS with the telephoto and wide angle adapter with the view finder and it takes great pics. If you don't want to use the battery adapter the correct battery can be had for about 7USD, it is an A32/A164 6v alkaline and can be found online.

The RC is nice. My favorite thing about the camera is how easily I can carry it waist level and glance down to change the aperture or shutter speed. It also hides in your hand nicely.

I've got both these cameras in hand now. The GSN arrived yesterday and the RC was waiting for me when I got home today. Both look really nice. The RC is MUCH smaller. Will have fun playing with them now. The RC may match my initial goal of a nice carry around camera better, but I like the looks and feel of the GSN too.

The GSN focus seems a little "dry" like it could use some lube. Is this something that may be necessary? Maybe it's just my technique. It only seems bothersome while holding the camera up to focus, when part of the camera weight is being supported by the ring and turning it. If the weight is supported by my hand or on a table, it turns much more smoothly and effortlessly.

Will just live with it for now. Otherwise the camera if in VERY NICE condition.

I finally got the film in for processing, got it back today. Very impressed with both of these cameras (GSN and RC). The metering was spot on, at least it was once I remembered to set the proper ISO - digital and DX coding really spoil us.

I think both the GSN and the RC will be keepers!!! Very fun and compact. Both lenses seem really sharp, will have to use them some more obviously. Shot a roll of 200 and 400 with each, seems the 400 will be the go-to for the RC. It had a little difficulty handling deep shade with 200. Might just have to shoot manually with a tripod in these cases. I was impressed with how accurate the automatic settings worked in both of these cameras.

Had no problems with the GSN focus today, was probably just me. I'm happy with my two little gems.

This is all you guy's fault...

In the mail from Yuri (fedka.com), not one, but TWO FSU rangefinders...Kiev 4AM w/Helios-103 53/1.8 and Zorki 4K w/Jupiter-8 50/2. I will post more when they get here. I am a little concerned about QA issues with the late model Kiev, but we will see. The thing that really concerns me is that I am still really interested in getting a Bessa R2A or R3A too!

A Hoya 48mm Lens shade for my Canonet QL17 G-III. Fits perfectly. Looks good too.

However, it' worth posting for posterity that the lowly Kalt 49mm threaded metal hood together with a 48-49mm step up ring makes an admirable substitute. In fact, this combo may be superior in that it creates a deeper, darker recess for the lens without any vignetting or metering issues. The only drawback is that it's slightly more viewfinder intrusive. But not too much.
