I picked up a Kiev 4a off of craigslist a few weeks ago. No takeup spool so I improved with an film spindle. Worked well enough that I ordered a takeup spool from Fedka, as the spindle felt a bit unstable. The camera came 3 Kiev/Contax mount Jupiter 8s ...and I just purchased a J12 over on rangefinderforum yesterday.

I was originally considering a Helios-103 but with results like those, I don't think I can justify it.

My Zorki 4K

Well, here is the Zorki 4K immediately after its rangefinder test.



So far the 4K has passed inspection and I will know tomorrow after processing the first two rolls of film whether the transport, shutter, and rangefinder are good. Mine was made in 1975 and came with a 1984 Jupiter-8. Lens and camera are in quite excellent condition (thank you Fedka). Unfortunately, the Kiev 4AM that accompanied the Zorki was not in as good a shape and will be headed home for an exchange.

My most recent RF purchase actually was a trade: CLA'd SP1000 and Auto Rikenon 50/2 for a CLA'd FED-2 and I-26. Trade made with an APUG/RFF member.
I think, finally, I have the FED-2 I have wanted for some time: a slick-handling little go anywhere RF.

Well my most interesting recent rangefinder purchase is the Rollei 35RF. This is sort of a luxury version of the Bessar R2 and branded by Rollei. It takes M mount lenses, although most of my lenses are thread mount (I use adapters). It is a wonderful camera: agile, well-made, nice viewfinders, and an accurate TTL meter. It has a collectible following too.

I think you got a very good one evidenced by these nice results. I'm not a huge fan of FSU cameras, but the Kiev's are ones I think really offer tremendous value and are a lot of fun.

I just got a Minolta "A" and Hi-Matic 7s, both as fixer uppers. A new battery seems to have fixed the Hi-Matic right up, unfortuanatly the "A" has problems that wont be quite so easy to fix

I recently picked up a Kodak Bantam Special and when it arrived I found it was the Supermatic model. Hooray! All I saw in the picture was a dirty, beaten camera, but at the right price. A lot of cleaning and it's almost as good as new.

When the following two popped up on ebay, for 'parts/repair', I couldnt resist:

Just spent a whole day on the silver one. Somebody stripped the enamel from it, so I now have the choice of repainting or leaving it bare.. (probably leave it as-is). The shutter was almost a write-off, as the blades (only non-stainless part) had rusted up completely and the rust/water mix had dripped into and dried up in the mechanism. Did a complete overhaul, including sanding the shutter blades and regaining all functions except 'B', which is an easy fix when I can fashion another spring.

Got some work cut out for me with the black one as somebody has taken a big set of pliers to the thread around the back element and it won't screw back into the lensboard.
I'm thinking seriously of transplanting a digital (a small Canon P&S with CHDK hacks) into this one and retaining the front lens/shutter assembly.

The Compur shutters are not difficult to service, especially as the low speed assembly can be removed and cleaned seperately. Both Compur and Supermatic shutters can be cleaned without major dissassembly.

Recently got my first rangefinder. Bessa R2A c/w 35 f2.5 Skopar and a beuatiful Luigi case. Took a bit of getting used to but a very enjoyable camera to use.

I recently picked up an estate-sale Konica III, which has just returned from a visit to Greg Weber. The camera was pristine except for one little detail: the shutter did not fire. Greg discovered that someone in the past had taken the camera apart and reassembled it without a critical bit of the shutter timing mechanism. Fortunately, he had the part. He also fixed up my Koni-Omega.
