AGFA Record III with Apotar lens to go with my Solinar example. Bought last summer from eBay. Glad I grabbed it. Their prices are climbing higher and higher every time a decent one comes available...

As good RF cameras are getting quite dear now, I've set my sights on non-RF cameras and use the human rangefinder, which weighs almost nothing and is accurate too. Here's the tool to make your own. http://tomchuk.com/misc/rf/

It's a chastening thought that my only range finder camera is a Zeiss Contax with the 1.5 cm Sonnar lens that my dad bought in Germany in 1945 at the end of WW11, I have had it serviced a couple of times since he gave me it in 1953, it got me started in serious photography, and I still use it.

Closest I have come in the past 20 years is a Fuji X-Pro1. Handles a lot like the old M4's and the lenses are very nice. Not film but sure is a pleasure to use when out and about.

Canon II2S with 50mm 1.8. The lens is currently getting CLA'd as the aperture blades had a lot of oil on it. But the camera is in pretty good condition, everything works, although I believe the shutter is a little slow at slower speeds.

Two days ago I pulled the trigger on this Zeiss 8.5cm f/2 Sonnar lens for Contax from ca. 1937.

Dead Link Removed

Now I need to look for a nice period viewfinder to go with it (until then I'll be stuck with a KMZ turret finder)

My newest RF

A lovely Zeiss Ikon Contessa 35, with two everready cases. One case needs some repair where the front "hinges." I must admit that the Contessa is not a fast handling camera, what with the bottom film wind knob, manual shutter cocking, etc. But it is such a beautifully finished piece of kit! It looks like it has had no more use than a demonstrator would. Only a few tiny blemishes on the chrome. Of my cameras only my Vitessa L and my AsahiFlex have comparable fit and finish.

On mine the lens is clear, the view/rangfinder is clear, and the shutter sounds right, except that 1 sec is perhaps a little slow. The lens is threaded on the OUTSIDE for filter adaptors, but I scored a series 5 adaptor, a lens shade, and a couple BW filters.

Now I need that MG TC to cruise around in....

Minolta-35.jpg Minolta-35_1.jpg

Got the body a few weeks ago and the lens arrived this week. Had no idea Minolta even made rangefinders until I happened to talk with the seller about another issue altogether. I expressed I was a big Minolta fan and ended up picking up the Minolta-35 and a Minolta Autocord. The lenses are pretty hard to find so it took me a while of searching, for a standard 50mm but it's in really bad condition. Currently running first roll through it to see how it turns out.

Ansco Super Memar

Not that I need another camera but I found this at a local goodwill while looking for computer speakers. It was 9.00, has an F2 Solagon lens and Syncro Compur shutter with clean aperture blades, and sounds accurate.

The rangefinder was plainly off in the vertical but I bought it, brought it home, figured out how to adjust the vertical and voila. I will add a few negative scans from the first roll, shortly.

Just got a gorgeous Leica IIIf with the equally gorgeous 5 cm Elmar. And a Contax IIIa with the nice 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar. The Contax isn't as "jewel-like" as I was expecting, whereas I think I might get to like IIIf even more than my M3!

Just got my first rangefinder camera. It's an olympus 35rc. And now I know why a lot of people like rangefinder. It's super fast to focus, smaller, quiet shutter, and lighter than SLR (at least my case). I found it easier to use than SLR on the street.

Fuji GA645zi and bonus scanner

I've really fallen in "love" with these Fuji rangefinders. So far I have the GW690III which produces a great negative. Several months ago I bought a new GF670 which is super nice and compact which is why I wanted it. This one takes a little getting used too. The 645zi was found at a nice price so it was a pretty easy decision. My leafscan 45 is a great scanner, especially when I wet mount however I shoot a lot of color which is way to slow on that scanner. Found a Minolta multi pro in good shape, just need to clean the dust off the mirrors which I understand needs to be handled with care. Here's a shot from one of the first rolls with the 645zi and scanner.

I picked up a Welta Weltini with S-K 50mm f/2 lens and a Pax M3.
The M3 had a frozen focus but a few days soaking in Xylene freed it up and with new lube it is working fine.
