If you got any good batteries, that counts for something. The two in mine were dead, and one is costing me more than the whole rig!

all batteries dead

put some alkalines in there to make sure they work but gotta get some silver-oxides.

cleaned and resealed the first XA, now I gotta do the second.

I feel like I joined the majors after sporting a lowly XA2

^ Yard sale.

Also got a Bogen tripod for another $10 at the same sale

The thrift store I frequent has cameras. I bought a Kodak Hawkeye Brownie, with flash in its box for 10 dollars. This was my first camera. It shoots 620 film.
I also purchased a Pentax Spotmatic 1000 also cost me 10 dollars. My friend happened to have extension tubes, which I got as a present.

A couple months ago I scored an Olympus XA 2 w/ A11 flash for 2 smackers. Need to replace the seals, but still it's a good tote around camera.

I picked up 2 Pentax's and a Mamiya C33 at the local thrift store.
Pentax K1000 w/50mm lens $23
Pentax ZX-50 with 28-105 Promaster lens and owners manual. Couldn't pass this one up. Its like new with very little wear. This one i would like to sell though.
Mamiya C33 80mm Sekiosha-S lens $25 The shutter needs work.

Not to mention my eBay finds. I have 2 more Asahi K1000's that i got with lenses for under $50! A 28-85 Kirom and a 35-70 Ricoh. Had to do some work on the Kirom for a loose lens mount but now it seems to be working great!

It took me two years of looking, but i found a PENTAX me Super at a thrift store. $3.94 got me a really good looking camera with a locked film advance. 20 min.'s on the net got me really simple repair instructions W/close-up pics and lots of arrows. 5 min.s "under the hood"and I'm the owner of a WORKING piece of art. My other find cost more 50.+tax. I'm gonna need lots of help learning this one. It's a Burke&James Press camera. Got the paper work, lens, 4 film holders, and a flash unit. This beast is old and dusty.... but then so am I; we'll get along nicely.

Not a garage sale, but I got a local Craigs list SL35M in near mint condition for $25. A backup for my back up for my backup

A Fujica ST605n and a Praktica MTL3 for a dollar each at a church rummage sale. Of course the Praktica is missing the rewind assembly, but for a dollar I couldn't pass it up.

I picked up my favorite MF camera, a Konica T3N in mint condition, complete with a 50mm F1.7 Hexanon, 28mm f2.8 Hexanon and a Tamron 80-210 with a metal case, tripod and filters for $50 CAN off Craigslist. The guy said it was his wifes dad's camera and just sat in the closet collecting dust.

Olympus Stylus Epic DLX (mju-II)

A thrift store find - a beautiful little Olympus Stylus Epic DLX - seems pristine, and came with a really nice custom Olympus case.

There is a photo at the bottom, with price tag attached. Yes, that is $2.99 CDN (plus tax).

Your Value Village is better than mine. I found a really beat up Olympus Stylus Epic DLX for $24.99 at one of the ones here. Nice find!

Ah thrift store finds! Gotta love them. I just picked up a Kodak No.2 Folding Hawkeye Model-C for $1.50 and a Voigtlander Perkeo 1 for $22.50 with Tri-X still in it. Also got 2 Minolta's for $9 each! SRT 101 and SRT 201.

Just got my hands on an FX-3 with a Yashica 35-75 1:3.5-4.8 ML lens, and no, I didn't even have to touch the kitty bank! ;P

At an outdoor sale yesterday I spotted a black Yashica Electro 35 GSN in excellent condition for only £15. I didn't buy it. Am I an idiot?!!!

Steve.

I will look for it at the same sale next week!

Box Brownie 2A, made in Canada. Model 1917-1923 vintage. Estate garage sale in my neighbourhood. My first box camera purchase. My GAS is now beginning to spread in a new direction.

Fully functioning. The aperture adjustment draw out and bulb shutter setting draw out work smoothly. The shutter works smoothly, and the lens glass and sighting ports are nice and clean.

The leatherette in good shape with only a small nick on one corner. The leather handle is still in place and strong.

Came complete with a 116 take up reel.

$10.

Presently it is fitted with a long time freezer stored from the mid 60's Ferrania Panchro 120 film, per the good drywall anchor spool extender tip found on a past posting here.

I'm waiting for a good sunny day to see how much fun this will be to take out for a stroll.

Yes. FYI, I just saw one of those go for over $150 in black. For that much you should have gone there!

The only problem with the Yaschica Electro 35 cameras is if the light meter is dead they will only fire at 1/500. I bought one for $15 with great glass, smooth action and working mechanical shutter to find the meter dead. Even with an external light meter, a shutter at 1/500 is a bit limiting.

On a brighter note, I just picked up a Canon Sure Shot Tele for $3. One $12 battery later and I have a working camera. Noisy sucker, but it works. I'm going to mount it on the motorcycle while I ride and snap a shot or two while moving.
