Those Canon A cameras have this thing that looks like a flash but is really a remote control shutter trigger.

You sell the winder alone and you'll make back half that price. I think that's a good deal!

Well I met up with the guy and picked up the lot. There were a couple good things but I thought it had the motor drives not just the Winder A2.

Regardless. I can keep what I like and sell off the rest

Here's what was in the bag:

2x A-1 bodies, both with A2 winders (both need a decent cleaning)
2x FDn 50mm f/1.8 (both pretty clean)
1 - FDn 28mm f/2.8 (pretty clean)
1 - FDn 35-105 f/3.5 (a couple small scratches on the front element, otherwise just cleaned up nicely, stoked on this one!)
1 - Tokina FD 60-120mm f/2.8 w/ 2x TC (Kind of an interesting lens, I think I'll hang on to it for my m4/3 kit)
1 - Canon Speedlight 177a
1 - Canon Speedlight 244T
1 - Ricoh Meter (kinda weird, never seen one before but could be useful on a meterless camera)
Miscellaneous accessories were also in the bag

I was driving along Union Blvd., minding my own business
of course, and suddenly noticed a salvage shop. At that
point I stopped minding my own business, and checked out
their business. I looked through a box of chintzy P&S cameras,
I was even tempted to add a Kodak Disc Camera to my collection.
But I decided to add an Ansco Lancer { 127 }, Nikon N5005
Body, and an Agfa Ventura 66 Deluxe { 120 & 220 } to the
collection. The shop owner made me an offer that I refused,
I offered $20.00 instead, being as the Nikon had a slight crack.
And the Venturas bellows needs to be replaced, or covered with
some electrical tape. Then we talked about Photography, and Film !
And then asked me to come back next week, to take a look at some
other cameras, and tripods that he obtained from an estate sale.

I recently bought a nice Oly OM-1n body on here. I told my best friend I've decided to try some expressive photography and that I bought the body. He then asks if I want another one. He hasa complete OM-1n with two SC lenses, extra screens including a Beattie grid screen, filters and some 20 year old film. Friends are priceless, camera free.

I was given a Polaroid 420 and Tessina 35 Auto L by a neighbor. Both in working order.

I was given a Canon EOS 3 body, and two complete Konica Auto T3s with lenses.

Do those count for this thread?

I wish people gave me cameras! I'm the only photographer in my entire family lineage. There have been cameras in the family along the way but no one knows where they've gone haha.

I barely know him. I usually cannot remember his name, but he saw me with a camera and asked if I shot film. When I said yes, he said he had two cameras he would give me if I would use them.

When you guys mention thrift stores, are you talking about places like Goodwill and the Salvation Army? There is never anything in either of these locally, I assumed they just sold off the good stuff themselves

I haven't had any luck with Goodwill, or the SA shops.
And their items are never priced quite right. I always
find great things at the Church, or Synagogue basement thrift shops.

Too bad Scientology people, or Rastafarians don't have a thrift shop !

I've seen a few decent things at Goodwill - e.g. darkroom trays in the kitchen plastic ware section .

Nothing at Salvation Army stores though

I have hit a fet salvation armys and good wills in NYC,there is nothing at all ever related to cameras, and if there was it would be a ridiculously priced compact snap shooter at the $20 range. I think the demand in ny is to much.

I know that Goodwills are increasingly leveraging the Internet to fetch higher prices for their more desirable items by putting them up on ShopGoodwill and eBay. Maybe other charity/thrift outlets are doing the same.
The best finds I've found have been in antique stores, and even those have been modest.

I know this is just happening now. I used to see cameras somewhat often at my local Goodwill. Now they only have point and shoots.

So far I've had most of my luck at plain old garage sales and craigslist. These days craigslist prices are approaching ebay prices, but who pays asking price My local SA just remodeled their store and they now have a camera section inside of a display case. Last I checked it was full of junk, but you never know!

I make it a point to raid the antique mall in Mt. Dora if I'm in the area. there is a vendor who buys and sells film gear. I got my last find, a pre-AI 55mm f3.5 Micro Nikkor for 40 bucks from him. He always has reasonable prices on film gear and lenses.

and a cable release extension, at a reasonable price !
