I have a Yashica 635 that when loading 120 film to it I can turn the lower knob freely, it does not rotate as I wind on the 120 film. I do not have the 135 film kit and I would like to know if there would be a problem with the lower knob rewinding the 135 film. Should the inner part of the knob rotate along with its outer part?

I had a 635 with the 35mm kit (wish I still had it) and here's what I remember. The 35mm rewind knob SHOULD turn freely when using 120 film. The small rewind release button marked R should be pulled out. If it is pushed in it will leave a small mark on one side of the square 120 negative. When the small rewind release button is pushed in it engages the 35mm winding knob and the mechanism on the 35mm adapter. I hope this is clear -- hard to explain, easy to show.
There's a manual online which may help:
