Which socket does the baseboard have? For the plug in the picture?

It may depend on which version 1c you have, early or late . . .

Here in Europe any good store selling electric stuff would have that. A computer store may even have the exact cord you need.

Timers don't always have the same sockets . . .

If you can't find it, let me know -

No, it's only a 2-prong USA male socket. I have Paterson timers which take either a USA or European plug. Thanks much for the offer! (my 1c is a crinkle-black one) The one you picture MAY work.

HILO, I saw the computer cord you pictured--the slots are too narrow. I've been to a variety of electrical and appliance parts stores and a hardware store and a big-box DIY store, but no luck!

The original cable should not have a plug at its side to the enlarger at all. But instead the wires should be screwd to the respective terminals under the baseboard.

What plug are you referring to?

It's a recepticle on the top rear left of the wooden baseboard, near the column.

That thingy is a extra on some samples of the 1C
It is likely a german Schutzkontaktsteckdose, a socket for a german safety plug. It is intended to plug-in a darkroom luminair.

You need a cable to connect to that socket? Most common cable in many parts of Europe.

If you need that but cannat find that, it would be easier to exchange instead that socket.
But let that do an electrician.

If it is the precursor non-safety socket, the plug might still fit but would not be safe...

If without a safety-earth wiring, your enlarger is to be considerd unsafe to current standards and should be rewired anyway by an electrician.

That socket I refer to was seemingly always mounted on the right side (seen from the operator)

On the left side on some samples is a tubular indicator. It countains a lamp and thus got a cable coming out of that tube.

No, the prongs are rectangular, USA style. It has the lighted indicater & cable, too. It's a MALE recepticle, needing a female plug or cord. No, I'm not able to post a pic.

I am sure your problem can be solved. It is just a matter of identifying which 1c with which recepticle you have. If indeed there is a cable and recepticle difference between US and European Focomats, then you will find your solution in the US. Not that many years ago Leitz US still sold cables for the Focomats. Otherwise Glennview should have one. The key is the recepticle on the baseboard.

There certainly are Focomats 1c with recepticles positioned at the left rear and on top of the baseboard. I imagine that's where yours is positioned? I attach some pictures. And: Leitz did make (early models) two-prong plugs and receptibles for inside the top of the column that were earthed as well (by something surrounding the prongs) . . . it is very likely that the same model had a 2-prong recepticle/plug on the baseboard as well . . .

Some other things that may help:

- is the illuminated scale attached to the baseboard, or the enlager? (see 2nd picture)
- the Leitz logo nameplate on the foot of the column, is it rectangular or more oval?
- what is the size of your baseboard? (in other words, is it the small or the large version)

Finally, you do realise you can simply run the cord coming out of the lamp head straight into a timer? Anyway, it is nicer to find the proper solution !

As said the original version had its mains cable fixed to the enlarger.
Your enlarger seemingly has a male chassis connector in the US style (NEMA 1). All you have to get then would be an NEMA 1 extension cord.
If you got a NEMA 1 socket in your house.

But as said above having the enlarger rewired to NEMA 5 (with safety earth) is advisable.

Here in Europe we got 8 different systems for wall sockets in homes. Plus 4 other commom types of connectors at appliances.

YES! AgX, the first picture shows my recepticle. The illuminated scale is attached to the baseboard; the nameplate is rectangular, and it's the large baseboard. I AM missing that cord; have contacted Glennview. Yes, I was thinking of using the cord coming out of the lamohead! I have European to US adapters. Thanks so much. Chip

Just ordered a short NEMA 1 cord that looks like it might fit.

Glennview needs the same power cord, so I suggested the NEMA 1.

Well, let us know if it works. If it does another piece of the Leitz Focomat puzzle got solved with NEMA 1 . . . almost as good as the names Durst used: Lapla, Taucolo, Taufil

Very good !! I assume it is original?

Curious to know what it looks like, on both ends . . . perhaps you can bribe someone to take some pictures?
