Good question since once the paper gets wet one can no longer determine which print was first nor what the differences were caused by. Thank you for asking this question.

And I believe you are right.
As I can read neither, I'll just plead a combination of ignorance and a bad guess!
 
I use a mechanical pencil on the back edge on FB. I can’t remember the last time I used RC paper but I do the same for it. A mechanical pencil never gets “dull” so it is always legible. If anything, harder leads in the H range are better in my experience.
 
I use a 4B pencil, and list time, f-stop, and grade setting on the enlarger.
