Good question since once the paper gets wet one can no longer determine which print was first nor what the differences were caused by. Thank you for asking this question.

I use a mechanical pencil on the back edge on FB. I can’t remember the last time I used RC paper but I do the same for it. A mechanical pencil never gets “dull” so it is always legible. If anything, harder leads in the H range are better in my experience.
