Would you buy the new Fuji Range Finder?

Since this is basically theoretical, I'll vote yes. If I had the money (whatever it costs) I definitely would buy one. But me ain't gots the $$$$ so I guess this is a moot point.

I'm in the market for a sub-$1,000 USD (I'm a poor student, afterall!) 6x7 or 6x9 with a fixed normalish lens for hiking. If it fitted the price tag and came onto the market before october, I'll buy one.

The Fuji begs to be shot hand-held. I have a Perkeo II with the not-too-bad 80/3.5 Color Skopar that's recently been tuned and adjusted to within an inch of its little life. I can't get a sharp shot with it off a tripod. I'm not steady enough. With a nice 6x7 I'd just waste film more rapidly. I already have a 6x9 setup that I can use on tripod, so a fixed lens 6x7 that has to be shot on tripod would be a step backwards. That said, I bet that, like my poor little Perkeo II, the new Fuji feels right in the hand.

i would buy it if it was way under the price of a mamiya 7II.i have lusted after a 7II for years now but the price is a little out of reach when considering extra lenses so if this was a 1000 dollar camera im in if it is more than 1500 then no i would rather splurge and get the 7II and be able to change lenses .but thanks to fuji for thinking of us in this digital age and hopefully the sales of this camera will set an example for other camera companies.

I love it! I hope Fuji actually sells these things and the price is reasonable. If they do, and it is, I'll buy one in a second. It looks like a modern version of the classic Bessa II. I actually prefer the 6x7 format over 6x9. It's closer to the 4x5 proportions I am used to and enlarges without cropping to the standard paper sizes. There's a reason they call 6x7 the "ideal format". Plus, you get two more shots per roll.

To me, it looks like the perfect film camera for long distance hiking/backpacking when the 4x5 system is just too heavy. It's also the kind of compact, lightweight camera I could see carrying with me at all times, "just in case" something special happens. It would fit in a coat pocket, briefcase, glove compartment, etc.

The 80mm lens is a decent compromise. I'm not a huge ultra wide angle fan. I tend to like my lenses in the slightly wide to slightly long range. Perhaps 75mm would be a little better, but I'm not going to quibble over 5mm.

I voted yes. OK Fuji, don't be a tease. Make it happen.

Fixed lens, like all cameras of this design, and it says 6x7 engraved right on the top plate.

Perfect thing for overseas trips where you wish for compactness above all else, with good possibilities of very nice enlargements.

Also good for motorcycle travel!

While I'd love to bring my Pentax 6x7 slr with all the lenses etc. on trips - it's just too damned heavy of a kit.

As it is, when I visited the folks in FL the other week I only packed my F-100 and CV R2S - no MF.

The ability to travel with a quality MF folder - even if fixed lens - that is new (and not some 50 y.o. used "eBay special") is very exciting.

I voted No. It looks like a very nice camera but i love my Hasselblad which is the only MF camera that i own. It is very rare that i use MF after getting into LF so this cute little Fuji folder would not see enough use to be worth the investment. Cudos to Fuji for introducing another film camera though. Hope it will sell well.
