Would you buy a Nikon FM2n in 2020?

Would you spend a hefty for a Nikon FM2n noways? I am considering buying one. I found one boxed (silver body) with the silver Nikkor 45mm 2.8P for 350 euros. Would it be worth it?
Basically I have been eyeing an FM3A, but the price for it just does not feel right for me.
What do you think?

Sure. Why not?

I bought fm2/t just because i wanted latest body possible but they are all extremely nicely engineered cameras.

Only you know if it is worth it. By comparison a new Nikon F6 was about $2500 USD a few months ago.

I see certain plastic P&S going for more than that these days. Guess what I would choose.

Unless it has been serviced lately I would add the cost of a CLA to the price and get it. Although boxed no telling how long it has sat, seals might need to be replaced as well.

I’d say so.
I watched the auction site until a clean example turned up, studied all the pics, as one should, then placed a best offer bid and hey presto... Nice clean black bodied FM2n.

That was back in January, but more recently I had the GAS attack and bagged a nice Chrome FM3a.

I’m spoilt for choice.

It a nice set, camera has good build quality and the lens is sharp, compact, easy to carry. Looks very clean.

You're getting it with that lens too? If so that lens alone looks like it fetches double the price of an FM2 - depending on condition and all that comes with it.

The FM3A was also well reviewed.

As with all things used, only you can determine what it's worth.

It seems to me analog cameras are more expensive in the US than over here. Must be one of only a few items that are.

or an austin healey...

why not a fm2 for 350

although i would much prefer an F or F2 or Nikkormat ft3 my fm2 never failed me...

Indeed! Besides my Oly OMs I own a Nikon F5 and although nice, I never got to really like the electronics all over it. It feels like a digital body that just records on film.

She is wonderful! I always wanted an FM3A. Perhaps next year (thankfully it is closer than ever ) All my cameras are second hand. The only camera I bought new is a Sony A7II that I rarely use. It has a count of 27 clicks. It is nice, but it just does not inspire me.

I will get it for a CLA to Nikon even if it looks to be working fine. To my surprise, Nikon still services these!

i'd say thats a smart move.

thats a camera for life - light but really robust and super smooth to use - the 45 pancake also gives you very compact but stylish day to day camera.

even if you dont get on with it you could sell it very easily but thats a very cool set up to me..

I have been looking for something like that would last for a lifetime. It feels simple and straightforward without many to distract you when using. Yet that simplicity adds quite a style to it. I love it.

I have never seen a hood that looks like that, let alone one that had the specs of the lens printed on it.

I just thought it was a goofy looking lens.
