Currently using a 27" iMac from 2012. It works well but sometimes gets sluggish with larger files now that I'm shooting a 50MP camera.
I thought I'd get a Mac Mini with the new M1 chip and install the full 16GB RAM.
Before I do, I'm looking at monitors for photo editing, and I'm intrigued by the widescreen offerings (32", 34" and 38"). I know these are more gamer-type monitors, but has anyone switched to that kind of screen?
If so, is photo editing any easier/harder with the different aspect ratio?
Second: can anyone recommend a good-quality screen for use with the Mini and specifically for photo editing/color accuracy?
I'm getting dizzy considering all the specs that I need to deal with: IPS, resolution, 4K or not 4K, USB-C, etc etc. The choices and price ranges are daunting, to say the least.
I like Dell monitors, use them a lot. I also like the iMac screen a lot, even the 2012 screen is pretty damn good. Not sure about LG, ViewSonic and other brands in the long run.
Thanks in advance.
