Wide angle lenses and the Speed Graphic

Has anybody tried to use a modern 65mm lens (Fuji, Nikkor, etc.) with a 4x5 Speed? I use a 90mm all the time and it works well for my uses, but recently I've been toying with the idea of getting a 65mm. Has anybody used this combination? How does it work, if at all?

i have and like using a 65mm schneider s-a on my speed graphic.
it works great ! just make sure you drop the bed. your lens/front standard
will be pretty much inside your camera-box ...

Thanks! Now all I have to do is find a 65mm W/A that fits a 77mm or smaller filter AND doesn't require a center ND filter.

So a question along the same lines (I have a S-K 90mm) now the question... how do I drop the bed?

there are struts that lock the bed into place when you open the camera.
if you depress them again ( after the bed is horizontal ) they go to a 2nd position
and drop down maybe another 45º so the bed isn't in view of the lens.
in other words, instead of depressing the struts and having the bed go UP, you depress the struts
the same way, like you are folding it up, but you just guide the bed DOWN. not sure if that makes sense.
some say it isn't necessary with a 90, but i do it anyways.

good luck not needing a center filter! i have one for the sa i use, and it cost a kings ransom.
it eats 2 stops, but is worth every penny i paid for it ...

About not needing a center filter, well, that's up to you. If you can live with corners at least 2.5 stops darker than the center, you don't need one. If you can't, you do.

The critical distance is the 4x5 Speed Graphic's minimum flange-to-film distance. For the Pacemaker Speed Graphic, 66.7 mm.

Bit of a pain to do but it worked. Going to test it out this weekend.
