Since we're in Fuji territory, I thought I'd also upload the scan of the third image in the film strip I uploaded earlier. Should it be this blurry, grainy and out of focus?

It looks like you focused a couple feet beyond the people. Notice the guardrail and pole look just fine. Nothing wrong with the camera here.

The screen effect is in one set of negatives, but not the other. It is not in the prints you show. I know of no way to generate both horizontal and vertical lines in a negative.

It's from the screen of the laptop computer the OP used to illuminate the negatives. See post #26.
