An intellectually interesting person who knows nothing about photography.

But knows a lot about life.

The latter can be a highly effective gateway to the former, but once inverted the same is rarely true...

Of the people who post here, several come to mind.

Ron Mowrey and John Sexton are two.

And Sean - because he gets so little chance to talk about photography.

Matt, I use SKYPE and have made the offer to talk that way to anyone.

Think about it. I have to eat lunch now, but I will be here.

I would love to talk with anyone about traditional photography, if they could stay awake!

As for talking with other traditional photographers, I'd say in the 10 years I've been doing this now I could count on one hand the number of other traditional photographers I've met. But the conversations are fantastic! My wife says I have "diarrhea-mouth" cause I finally found someone that I can talk about my passion with! It's funny when things like "How do you pronounce "Rodinal" or "Mamiya"?" come up in conversation. I never hear these words actually said! Ok maybe I just need to get out more...

Who would you most like to discuss photography witg?

As an extension to another thread...a wise gentleman suggested this thread...Good idea Bill.

So here goes: If you could, who would you most like to have a discussion on photography with?

At first I tried to think of some famous photographer that I admire, then I thought: No, I had rather talk photography with several old friends, all gone now who I used to sit at a table in a home or cafe and talk for hours with. Those were really good times. And we weren't all trying to "out-lie" each other. Well not all the time. Thinking back, that, if for no other reason, is a benefit of photographic clubs or societies......Regards!

Sometimes the best part of talking to someone famous or really talented is to be talking about something other than their fame or talent. Hearing about their other interests and motivations in life can be equally insightful.

Have any of you thought about what you'd actually discuss with these people, or how disappointing the discussion might be?
