Hi, the question is short and simple. Does anybody know of a place that still services Nikon scanner 4000ED, preferably within the EU but not necessarily?

There is a guy on eBay that offers repair services. I have no affiliation with the person, or have i done business with him. I did stumble across his ad when i was searching for my Nikon Coolscan V. I have also read ads on eBay where people have just had their Coolscans serviced. Perhaps you could message the sellers and ask them where they got theirs serviced?

What is the problem you are having?

Thanks for responding (I will also check out repair link).
The scanner works fine for about 40 minutes and then it hangs an the power LED blinks. If restarted it may work for a few minutes but then it stops and needs a long rest. I get the impression that something overheats.

You could try taking the housing off and checking to see if there is any dust accumulation on the electronics. (and vacuuming it off, if there is).
If the problem is overheating, a good electronics repair shop may be able to address it without specific experience with scanners. Bad solder joints, or failing generic components could be the cause, and that should be be easily fixable by any electronics shop. I don't know if there is a fan in the unit, but that's another fairly common, and easy to fix failure point (generically speaking).
