Believe me, I would have dropped this after my first post had it not been for so many questioning my actions (which I had considered trivial). It was not I who gathered all the momentum. I cannot see why anyone would be concerned with my ethics, but, over and over again, they are. Trivial pursuit in my opinion. Who am I?-So what is the exact purpose of this thread? To share with us, mere mortals, your self-esteem and your "ethics"? To be blut: Who cares?
There was life before David Lyga. There will be life after David Lyga.
The ONLY reason I brought up 'ethics' at all was because a decision had to be made as to whether I would stick to my guns and gather every drop of blood that I was 'entitled' to or whether I would be a bit more ameliorative. It was no big deal and those who make it such are more deserving of scrutiny than I am.
I agree! There is no ethic issue whatever David did. He wanted to please the guy so he can have better deal with that store later and that's fine. If he wanted the full $125 is fine too there is nothing unethical about it either way.I hope that it is clear David that my points in this discussion are entirely supportive of the choice you made - I just disagree that there was any issue of ethics involved. I think that the title to your thread is the problem, not the events that led to the thread in the first place.

Again, what is the purpose of this thread?
“No anger, just failure to understand ...”
... and an inability to just let it go. Be happy.
“Apparently, when I post, I become the engine for photrio.com.” - David Lyga
But to repeat myself in a way, isn't replying to such posts evidence of being at least equally egotistic? In fact, I find these kind of egotic thread more pathetic than anything else. Nothing to prevent me to sleep.

Written in full knowledge that when one is pointing a finger, there are three are pointing back at oneself...
My 'feelings' are necessarily subordinate here. The real value here is dissection of these thoughts and relating them to others' experiences. There is value there and I have no angst from all this. To me, yes, the out-pour is rather surprising, but better be surprised than keep things forcefully quiet. Everyone is entitled to speak as he or she wishes. - David LygaHi David. I think what some might be thinking is that this was the kind of event that many might chat with a friend about over a cup of tea but not something that most folks would post on a photography forum. You did and that part of your soul was bared for public scrutiny. Public scrutiny can be both kind and harsh. Be happy.
Fair enough, Matt.I hope that it is clear David that my points in this discussion are entirely supportive of the choice you made - I just disagree that there was any issue of ethics involved. I think that the title to your thread is the problem, not the events that led to the thread in the first place.
I would have no way to know that. Maybe the camera was spoken for and maybe he simply let it slip into the box.Be sure and keep us up to date with the retail price the camera store is charging for the camera you fixed for them.
Dali, my intentions were entirely innocent. I posted because I simply wanted to relate a situation involving camera trading; nothing more. Perhaps the quantity of feedback was what really drives your perception that I stated more than I was entitled to state. I did not expose my life but only a single situation which perhaps others could gain experience from. Was that being too forward? I think not. - David LygaAgain, what is the purpose of this thread? You did a choice, move on. Why to do you need to expose your life in a forum? What were you expecting? Posters to say "Yes, you did right" and posters to say "I would manage it differently"? Then what? Can you tell me if we should be concerned by what you did? Unless you consider yourself as a moral reference, I don't see the point to elaborate further.
No anger, just failure to understand the real motive behing this thread and where we, posters, fit into the picture. Nothing more.
R U Kidding?FWIW the shoppe is selling the camera for $300.00 at the moment. Its too bad they couldn't pass on the good deal they got from the OP to the general public, and continue the "pay it forward" thing the OP started ... I guess in business profits are king.

Its a Yashica (124G ), maybe its not the same one, IDK ... and even though the buyer is a capitalist, it was an extremely nice gesture done by the OP. Its too bad the world isn't fueled by more random acts of kindness it would be a better place.R U Kidding?
Well, at least that says something about the work I did on the camera! - David LygaFWIW the shoppe is selling the camera for $300.00 at the moment. ... only if it sells. If it sits on the shelf go the next decade with a $300 price tag on it, it says something else.Well, at least that says something about the work I did on the camera! - David Lyga
