I was just looking at Adorama's site and found that Tri-X is $79.99 for 100'.
The last time I had looked it was over $100.00 for a 100' roll!

Is this a fluke or am I dreaming?

I just bought one just in case it goes back up.

Short date?

I noticed that as well and considered going back to bulk loading. Add the price of film cans and your about even? $5.79/roll 36, $5.99 4 pack cans (2x use average), 19 rolls 36 per 100 foot, $79.99 per 100' roll. Nope you're out ahead by $16.00. Even better if you find a cheaper source for reloadable cans or triple up their use. I usually get 2 uses before they scratch up the film. Freestyle has 100 cans for $100 that's bring the savings to $24 per 100' roll vs 19 36 rolls...if each can is reused 3x. Tempting since I have 5 bulk loaders somewhere.

Maybe projected demand is were they can convert bulk rolls economically again.

I like them not only for the savings, but also because I enjoy the handling of bulk film. I switched to HP5 for that reason.

Nobody asked me first about that. If you like the price, then buy it.

I buy the 1.20 per plastic Kalt cans from B&H. They last me about 20+ rolls each and I've never had a scratch. I have 25 or so of them and I've thrown a few away because I accidentally cut the felt in the dark while cutting off the film  but never had to toss one due to scratching. I keep them in ziplock bags when not in use and blow them off with canned air before loading. I bought 15 of them 2/17 and 10 more 11/2017 and they are still going strong.

I think it was some time last year that Tri-X bulk rolls went on sale for $79.00 at both B&H and Adorama. I quickly bought a roll, didn’t realize that price would stay.

I always leave a tab of film sticking out of film canisters (non-reloadable type) so I can tape film to it for bulk loading. I’ve reused them a few times without any problems. Mostly I use the brass Leica FILCA cassettes that will last forever.

Yes, these work well, don't they. I use them for Dbl-X and recently when unloading a cassette of seldom-used Tri-X I gave the end of the cassette a twist, just to make sure it was on tight...

There has been a corresponding drop in B&W motion picture lab stocks from Kodak. The prices have fallen about 1/4 from past orders.

Most likely it is because there is either a new distributor or an existing distributor changed their pricing.
Kodak Alaris doesn't normally sell directly to retailers.

I just ordered a bulk roll of Kentmere 400 from B&H for $45 USD. Looking forward to trying it out. I also use the Kalt plastic cartridges with no problems.
