The Olympus Quickmatic was a gift from my youngest daughter who shoots film with a Olympus Zoom camera. It's an EES that shoots 126 film which is getting harder to find "fresher" film. First cartridge no images. Second one with a vintage of 1996 was much better. A little color cast but at least I know the meter works and the lens is plenty sharp.

Check out the FakMatic 135 --> 126 adapters:

I've been having a lot of fun with a Mamiya EE Super Elite or whatever it's called (no name on camera). Super cheap, only four shutter speeds, but it does shutter priority without batteries (the selenium eye is still very accurate) and the pictures have been sharp. I'm just very partial to a 40mm lens in a cool-looking rangefinder honestly.

Picked up a working Retina IIc last weekend. Fun little camera.
I'm intensely jealous. I had a IIf or whatever (fixed lens with built in mini bulb flash) with a nonfunctional meter. It was one of the most fun cameras I ever had until something broke off inside and ruined the gearing for the shutter cocking mechanism. Still, it had been $15! One reason I like my new Mamiya is that it vaguely reminds me of the Retina.

After getting it home I thought "I think I have another lens for this." Sure enough I found the 35mm f4 that I picked up long ago. I just sourced the optional 35/80mm finder and it is waiting to be taken out and put through it's paces.

What is a "local recycle center" ?
Over here it is where people can take wht they consider rubbish, and it is sorted though by Acorn, who employ people with learning difficulty's, they have been trained to sort the items, check them out for problems, make sure every works, check electrical items for safety, and have a big out of town shop where they sell these items on, they have everything you could want, all saved from distruction, as far as photography goes I have bought many items over the last year, which is the time they have been open, I found a 4 blade 12/16 LPL easel for £12, a lbarnack leica, in almost immaculate condition, for £50, plus lenses for many of my camera's, it is one of those places tahat is worth going to, you ever know what ypo might find, and it is amazing what people throw away as useless

Over here there still is lack of the idea of reuse (fleamarkets, thrift store etc. aside).
Some municipalities even claim ownership on everything put on streets on bulk waste days. Anyone taking such stuff for private use acts illegal to their mind. Despite re-using or even just salvaging for parts is better than incinerating for heat or melting down for metals...

That is the general idea over here, we are a small island, just 45 square miles, and re cycling is the best way to save on burning rubbish, it is amazing what people will throw away as useless, and if an outfit like Acorn can re sell it and give work to handicaped people who would otherwise just sit at home feeling useless, then good for our Goverment,

Great place, and all of it is either thrown out or donated to Acorn, why anybody would throw out something like a Barnack Leica, or a complete Minolta outfit like I got today is beyond me, it is so obviously bee n well loved and looked after, all in a fitted metal outfit case, but maybe it is because there are no photography stores over here, no one except Boots, a store chain, sells film, and they only seel a very few rolls of 120 and 35mm at greatly inflated prices, $7.99 per roll, which is twice as much as any where else in the UK, but it's good for the Film Shooters left over here, and for £150 for 2 SRT 101 camera's with 55mm 1'7 lenses, plus a Minolta 200 prime, a 35mm prime and the 70 to 210 Vivitar series 1,(The Kiron version) on as new condition, flash filters, I was not going to leave it there

Purchased a great condition Nikon FM on eBay. I sold my FM a year or so ago and have regretted it for a while. I have a 28mm 2.8 AiS on the way to pair with it too.

I’m trying to rationalise my modest camera collection a little, I don’t like having them for the sake of having them and not being able to use them all regularly. The FM is different enough from my F100 and I can share the lenses between the two. Those along with my XA2 and eventually an MF Bronica will all serve different purposes and be different enough for me to justify keeping them.

Nice... they have one with the cameras for sale at my lab, but I think the selenium is dead.

EDIT: I had the XA and the XA-1 flipped in my mind. Oh, that's much better than what I was imagining when I first read it. Yes, I'll spring for an XA eventually.

Purchased a second Canon EOS 600 which is in better overall condition and cost less than the first EOS 600 I purchased about a week earlier! The first one was missing the rubber eye cup and has something on the focusing screen or mirror which can't be blown off. Almost thought there was a problem with the AF on the second one as it only worked when the camera is set to the green auto setting, but not on the Program modes or fully manual, after a quick check i found out that the previous owner had set it to back button focus. Managed to fit a quartz data back as well which to me is retro cool, though I doubt I will ever use it to record the date on the photo.

OMG! At first glance the lens shade looked like the lens cover/shade on my Werra! And I was right. Too late for this guy to be really alert. How do you like your Werra? And the Pearl is true to its name.

I´ll get a BEDA 30.5mm lens hood (also GDR manufacturer) for the Pearl so the Werra Tessar gets back its hood.

How do you like your Werra?

I have a Werra V with the Flektogon, Tessar and Cardinar lenses. Light meter works fine, I like that one can see the aperture and shutter settings through the viewfinder - that´s clever designed. An overall I like the minimalistic outer appearance of the camera

I regularly fail in opening and closing the aperture after changing lenses resulting in shooting wide open only. And I don´t trust the winding mechanism. As long as ther is no film in the camera everything feels fine. But with a film loaded it´s a bit on the border for my taste.

Yes, it´s quite different to other cameras and I definitely like it.

To reacquaint myself with film photography, I picked up this little guy.

49626234267_865bec5621_b.jpg

The FM10 is pretty modest I know. But the meter works and the shutter speeds sound about right. The lens is pretty basic (1st gen E-Series 50mm f/1.8) but good enough for my eyes.
I'm going to see if I can get used to shooting seriously with film; to see if I've gotten any better at photography in general after all the blasting away with digital the past few years.

There's some battle damage.

Wow. The Konica Big Mini HG goes for around $200 on ebay. Good find. I have the exact camera and get some nice shots with it. It is my travel camera of last resort. Lens is good- nice and contrasty. Here's one I took indoors in Oakland.
