here is a pic of the pheonix P1 and the keystone K8 I got over the weekend donna's cameras.JPG
i am liking the pheonix as the meter is agreeing with my CANON A1.will run a roll of film thru it.maybe give it to wife if she wants to use it.

it does say made in japan on bottom plate.originally i thought it might be a sears re-branded camera but the lady told me she bought it from B&H photo in NYC.tell be it is nothing special but it is quite nice.

I’m not usually a “collector”, but given my love of my Nikkormat FTNs, when I saw the KEH has a Nikomat FS, I figured it would be fun to go meterless. I do also love an uncluttered viewfinder. I assume it will arrive sometime next week.

Well, as I'm getting older with some minor mobility issues developing I've sold off all the heavier gear so I guess my latest old camera would be my F80.

A Russian FED4 and a Pentax K1000. FED4 I acquired over 20 years ago from a clear out at work. I am not sure if I ever ran a film through it, or for that matter if anyone ever ran a film through it. I occasionally tested it and shutter was OK so last week a roll of Kentmere 100 processed in Perceptol was tried out. Camera works although there a few funny lights on some prictures. Scanned with a plug in mini USB 'scanner' from Lidl around 25GBP. Not the greatest resolution but it is quick.silsden_beck_04.jpg

I also had a Pentax K1000 with PanF in. I was given the camera by someone moving house and wanted rid. 50mm f2 and 28mm f2.8 takumars.

Never used PanF in a 35mm before. Discovering my Epson V300 has a natived resolution of 4800dpi rather than the 2400dpi setting I normally use I am certainly impressed with film and camera.

I also have a roll of Kentmere400 in a Rollie 35 LED (although meter does not work) and I intend to try out caffenol with it for the first time.

Interesting - your camera is labeled as Phoenix - most of those I found on the net are labeled as Phenix.
You are mixing up brands and manufacturers.
Phenix: a chinese manufacturer
Phoenix: japanese manufactured

A new old (1938 +/-1) Ihagee Ultrix 3860 (120 rollfilm or 1/6 plate); Carl Zeiss Jena 105mm f4.5 Tessar. Has helical focus, which I like in a folder.
Nice camera. Only shooting rollfilm at this point.

So you were FORCED to take the cameras. I understand...

Funny how almost every Agfa Optima has a missing panel on the front; Mine is missing the exact same panel, as are many on Ebay...

About 6 weeks ago I was showing a wood/brass camera to someone in my local real ale bar. Another customer said he had a couple of his fathers old cameras I could have as he was going to throw them out. One larger than the other.

A couple of weeks later he gave me a 620 Kodak Junior, the leather(ette) is lifting a bit but overall it's in excellent condition and a film at no 3, This is a British made Kodak Ltd camera.

Tonight he gave me the larger camera a No 3 Kodak Pocket Folding camera, US Eastman Kodak manufacture so pre WWI, it's a quarter plate size roll film negative, so I think 118 roll film. It needs a little work to the leather and the pneumatic remote release mechanism has come off at some stage, the two parts were inside the film spool area, just needs 2 screws, the shutter works like new.

The donor won't take any money for them if I buy him a drink, in lieu he insists on buying one back :D Photo's to follow.

It occurs to me upon considering this thread that I haven’t bought a new old camera for years. I must be done with the acquisition phase. I got a new Canon 5D MKII for work when it was in production, but nothing really since then. Maybe a couple of lenses, but I’ve felt pretty much set for cameras for a while now, and I’m mainly just maintaining and repairing the things I have as needed.

Congratulations! I will be joining that club at the end of this year. Time to get the darkroom going and repair the cameras I have. The next year should be full of replacing light seals and (finally) building out the systems I want to extensively use.

It was fun collecting (hoarding) cameras, but now it's time to spend more time using them.

Coming tomorrow, a DeVry Kamra, an early 35mm Camera madefrom Catalin. Looks to have a missing/broken advance/shutter crank, not working but hopefully no mechanical damage. By the patent drawings it seems very simple inside.

A good friend gave me a near pristine Welti 1 for Christmas. Hope to run a roll through it soon...

A Bronica SQ-Ai with 80mm & 150mm lenses. Good stuff!
Both are good lenses. The 150 lenses do not have very close focusing. Extension tubes and/or close-up lenses can be used. My favorite 2-lens combo for the SQ cameras? 65 and 135.

Nikon F3.
