What's your latest new old camera ? (Part 2)

Thought it time for a challenge so bought this today

It came with a lens, the shutter needs attention and it may be too dirty to actually clean up being a Dialyte it'll have lowish contrast anyway.

On the bright side it came with a tripod as well, again needing some repair though but for £40 ($60) it's still a bargain

Just needs slight attention and it'll be up and running . . . . . . . . .

Agfa Super solinette RF Folding Camera Solinar f3.5/50 lens Case Needs Work
The work required was a shutter that wouldn't fire until I soaked it a bit in white gas. 5 minutes later it was firing 'like new'. I still need to clean the class after using the gas as well and remove any remaining dried lubrication, but I can't wait to run a roll of film through my new $10 camera. The rangefinder is nice and bright with a well defined spot.
It should be a pleasure

The EL's are like the later FE's but built like tanks.
The Nikkormat Ft3 is like the later FM's but built like tanks.

They also weight a ton!
In fact the EL2 weights about the same as a F2 with plain prism.
It is just a pity the EL series had to have the battery where is it.
The good news is that with a lithium battery, it lasts a long time.

Enjoy your EL2 and FT3, but be aware of the missing eyelet on the FT3.
These are my own EL2 and FT3.
The EL2 isn't in as nice condition as yours, but it works well.
Also be aware the Nikkormats might suffer from lack of use on the transport mechanism.
If I don't use mine for over a month I have the habit of putting a test roll through it just to exercise the transport and rewind.

What happens if the transport mechanism isn't exercised regularly? I have an FT2. I used it last week.

My EL2 had a stiff sprocket shaft. You could feel when winding and rewinding almost like a ratchet.
Also that leads to frame spacing issues.

What a beautiful project for the winter time. And you could turn this lens into a beautiful pinhole camera.

This week I picked up a Ricoh KR-5 Super with a couple of lenses, and flash for $10. Lenses are Ricoh's 50mm and 135 2.8.

I also picked up a Canon EOS 850, for $8.50. The camera is clean, and working. If you can call auto only working. However the lens is the metal bayonet 50mm 1.8, which made it worth the $8.50 to me.

The 50/1.8 EF version 1 - with distance scale and thin focus ring? Yes, that alone is worth a good bit more than $8.50.

The later 50/1.8 EF II had the plastic mount, no distance scale, and wider focus ring. Even so the inexpensive "nifty fifty" performs reasonably well. For me, it just nailed the focus wide-open when I was using it with a Rebel G to shoot spiders and their webs in late afternoon light.

A little Minolta Minoltina AL-s. Everything works just fine but its missing the shutter button. It's a very simple part so I'm figuring on turning one out of some oak.

Winter's over here well at least it was yesterday. The camera itself needs very little work it will need two new front struts made, luckily I have some brass of the right vintage (and alloy), modern brass doesn't match.

I usually use a patch inside the bellows This camera is joining the queue for new bellows I need 9 other sets firsts though.

My latest "new old camera" was a Canon EF with a Cannon FD 35mm f2 Thorium lens attached that was about fifteen years ago, I'm not a serial camera buyer I don't want to spend my time and efforts acquiring more "stuff", I'd rather concentrate on using what I have more.

I've never seen a Canon 35mm FD or FDn lens in person. It's as if Canon made every other focal length except 35mm. "35mm? Who would use that?"

Maybe they made just one lens and you're the lucky guy that got it. You could pass it around for people on other continents to use and charge a fee!

Give it to me.

Unless... unless you really don't have an FD 35mm. You really don't have it, do you? Maybe it's a Tokina, isn't it?

One of my all-time favorite websites, yes. However, I think the Canon 35mm FD lens is either a mythical creature or a hoax since I've never actually seen one. Yes, I'm a denier.

I actually owned one, an early, 55-mm-front-thread-concave-front-element version, a gift from my sister and her ex some forty-odd years ago, my first wider-than-normal lens. 28mm lenses became commonly available a few years later. It was part of my original 1971 FTb outfit and was either stolen after a 1995 Cancun vacation, along with an AE-1 body, Vivitar 70-150 zoom and flash unit or "sold" to KEH later that year after I bought an EOS Elan. Take my word for it, the Canon FD 35mm f/2 lens did indeed exist.
