I just bought a six dollar Olympus OM-1 at a thrift shop. It was bricked but the lens was immaculate. I started exploring online and found out that the problem this camera was exhibiting was common and could be fixed so tried it out. it worked! Feels good cause I'm not very mechanically inclined and I have clumsy fingers so being able to align the gears and clean the little bugger was a good feeling. SO that's my newest camera.

I also bought a Nikon F2 about a month ago and this camera is amazing. I love how it feels.

The Argus C44 is about the size and weight of a conventional SLR... a little shorter. The way I took the shot, the Weston meter is in front making it look larger and out of proportion.

I took the C44 out today for some test shots and thought something wasn't right with the film advancing. Turned out, I was right... the take up spool didn't catch the film right, so no film was advancing. In the darkroom I opened the case to feel around if my suspicion was right, and there it was, the leader hadn't moved. At least I didn't waste a roll of film. Now I've figured out how to properly load it. You have to put the entire film tab up under a little rod in the take up spool or it slips off. Perhaps the worst scheme I had seen. The C4 take up reel is much easier and reliable.

A Pacemaker 4x5 Crown Graphic with top mounted rangefinder fitted with a 135mm Wollensak/Graphic rebranded lens. Rangefinder and ground glass focus match. Can now share lenses with my Graphic View II. I can definately tell you that the days of getting a steal of a deal on these are a thing of the past. I had one of these many years ago. Should have kept it.........Regards!

2nd Kiev 60 from an estate sale with 180mm 2.8. Will probably sell the old Kiev because this one is purdy-er.

...they're not that expensive anymore. Since the above photo was made last year, I've added two RB67 lenses (a 180mm and a 65mm in addition to the two 90's, 50mm, and 140mm shown).

The Hassy lenses are 50CF FLE, 80C, 38 Biogon, 80C, with 120mm, 150mm, and 250mm below.

Last time I looked, Blue Moon had a 555ELD, an EL/M, and a 903 SWC. Might have your name on it...

You do know about Pro Photo Supply over in NW, don't you?

Well someone has to stimulate the economy, Congress sure as Hell is never gonna get anything done!

Actually, I could strap them together and shoot stereo photographs.

I have just bought an almost mint Minolta XE1, one of the black finished ones . It obviously hasn't been used for several years so it is away to be fully serviced. It is a delight to hold and the handling is superb. It came complete with a MD 50/F1.7 lens for only £69 GBP

I just picked up a very pretty Nikon EL2 a couple days ago. Black, with almost no wear anywhere, but it is somewhat dusty. It works beautifully. Putting my first roll of film through it now. Here's a shot of it connected to a "new" lens that arrived the same day (a Tokina AT-X 150-500/5.6 SD):

The Nikon EL2 was my first (serious) camera, given to me by my aunt when I was 17 (over 30 years ago). I still have it. It was my first Nikon camera.

Thanks, guys. I've always been very fond of the Nikon FE with its match-needle metering in manual mode. It wasn't until a few years after I became acquainted with the FE that I had my first encounter with an EL2, and I quickly realized that the EL2 was the FE's direct predecessor. Same match-needle setup, but the EL2 also has mirror lock-up, which is a feature I've always liked because I shoot a lot of long telephoto and macro stuff. And while the FE is nice, with its compact body and all, I've always been a fan of the heavyweight, stout "workhorse" cameras anyway. The Pentax KX over the MX, the Canon FTb over the AT-1, the Nikkormats over the FEs and FMs, etc. This EL2 is in superb condition, its mechanicals working perfectly, its meter responsive and accurate. I'm putting a roll of Fuji 200 through it right now and hope to have results soon.

It can now join another recent acquisition of mine, a Nikkormat FT3 with 50/1.4:

One somewhat curious thing about the above lens -- it is a late pre-AI 50/1.4, but it has a factory Nikon AI kit installed. So because of its rubber focusing ring, most folks would just think it's an AI lens -- to go with a new-at-the-time AI mount camera. But I think it tells a story of transition as well. Perhaps the person who bought this FT3 had already owned this lens and used it with an earlier camera, and then had it converted when they bought the FT3. As good of an explanation as any, I reckon.
