Thank You, Frank. The 'guess' focusing is what got me about the Rollei & other non-coupled rfs. 'Trying the method w/ the blad would yield a small percentage of focused shots. 'Acceptable for digital, but not for film. Certainly with enough time & film invested, it would improve, but its not the same as having a reliably focused shot. I envy those that can use the tiny gear 'cause they know and are practiced w/ the tricks. Its really nice. With the Ikonta, I was glad to be able to mentally convert EV to regular settings. I'm learning.

A 135 format camera with 40mm lens is easier to scale focus than a medium format camera with an 80mm lens due to the greater DOF of the former (at the same focused distance and f-stop).

Ya know - that's right, Frank. 'Gives a + for 35 in street/people photos. I hadn't kept that in mind, but my shots w/ the blad sure bear that out. Its a shame the larger format has to lose the DOF. Probably the 50mm on the blad would do better, but then you'd have to be in the subject's pocket to get the shot. Good point, Frank. Thank you for your kindness with my machinations on this.

Thinking about it, the XA is listed on their site and I got a glimpse of the flash unit when I was there, so I assumed it was the XA and not an XA2 - I wasn't looking that closely.

The rangefinder patch on mine is easy to focus with; I've heard other people say theirs isn't that easy to use.

I would take my XA2 out on snowy or rainy days - it's good for that.

You could use a Hassy 50mm for street shooting - it's a 31mm equivalent. My 50/4 CF FLE and SWC get used more than I thought they would. The 250/5.6 does as well - I have good shots of Seattle and Portland from it.

My 50 is just the 'C'. It has spent more time on the camera than the 80 & 150 combined - mostly because of the 3+' min focus of the other two. For a scene with stationary subjects, any of the 3 would do. For the hustle & bustle of shooting people fairly close up on the street - it would take skills that remain in my future. At f8 on the 50, focus at 3.5'. The scale shows dof of 6" either side. Without filtration, F8 here seems to translate - a sunny day or a 'pod, using 400 speed film.
As you can tell from it living on the camera, I really like that lens.

I made a trip to Bluemoon when I saw the XAs on the website. It turned out they were 2s or 3s. I can't tell what kind of luck I'll have w/ a unit bought through Amazon, but at least returnability is there. If it works well, it should be a very useful tool.

What is the starting serial number on the Rolleiflex? Mine is 2.234.xxx - it's a K4E (3.5F model 2) made in the Spring of 1960. Yours looks great.

Well my aunt (who now lives in my late grandparents home) came across the country to visit, and she brought me a box of cameras.

They're interesting to me, but perhaps not terribly valuable:

First we have 2 Brownie Hawkeyes. I already have a very good condition one of these, however I find that bright white portions of a photo end up foggy, such as a white garment when using a flash bulb, or a bright white sky on an overcast day. Cleaning the lens improved it a bit, but it's still very evident. I'm curious if these two exhibit the same defect.

Next, a Rollei SL35 SLR with 4 lenses. According to the web this camera tends to break, and my copy has a shutter release which does nothing, and a film advance lever which won't swing

Next we have a cheap panoramic camera, an Ansco "Pix Panorama" with zero controls other than film advance

Next a Model 160 Polaroid Land Camera. Although the hinges at the back have green and red corrosion, the front looks brand new. Not sure what the corrosion is from, since the manual doesn't mention a battery.

Also includes an ad for the next generation of Land Camera, a model of which I also own (250)

Lastly, a Kodak Cine Model K movie camera, I think this might be from the 1930s, but I'm not 100% certain

Thanks for the link Theo Sulphate. I'm trying to figure how how much I can wind the spring on this movie camera, unlike later models there isn't a spring dial.

Edit: For future reference, 30 turns does the trick, you get about 15 feet/30 seconds of run time

It is a tele-rolleiflex. There is also a wide version.

Frank, if you walked down the street with the Rollei, Rollei wide and the Tele-Rolei around your neck, you would be the man with camera bling. Owning and using all three would be an experience worth having.

Well the Hasselblad with three lenses is a bit easier to handle than three Rolleis. I always liked the Rolleis, but I went in another direction.
