What's your latest new old camera ? (Part 2)

The last Camera I bought was about four years ago, it's a Canon F 1 body, it was absolutely mint in the original box with the papers, packing and instructions. The body looked like it had never been used it even still had the piece of plastic on the film gate that protects the shutter from the film guide rails.
I was very happy to add this to my stable of F 1s, and I was very lucky to see it first on the website of my local analogue film camera and dealer dash down there, and buy it first at very reasonable price with a six months warranty.

That's a very nice find. My F-1N also had the plastic protector still in place, but it had no box or other paperwork. I've come to really love that camera. It's only got about a dozen rolls of film through it since September, but it's been perfect in function.

The second F-1 I own arrived yesterday. Visually, it's very nice but it does need a CLA. There's heavy dust in the nooks and it is not 100% in operation. I don't know if this has every been used. It looks like a display camera that sat unused for a couple of decades. I'm hoping that with a CLA, it will become as nice as the F-1N that I picked up in September.

My latest are 2 Canon Canonet rangefinders I got on ebay for $2.25 plus $20.27 shipping.

I used to own a T 90, FTb and, A 1, I decided that I'm a photographer not a collector, that I preferred the F 1, and F1n, and I sold or part exchanged the other cameras F 1s are all I have now.

A Camera Club / FLICKR Mate bought new a NIKON F5 outfit years ago when he went into partnership with another Club Member to do 'Weddings' then it all fell through and that Partner moved to Cornwall and my Mate never USED his F5 any more so finally said he would Sell It so I had a look at the 'Going Rate ' as he paid over £2,000 for it and I was surprised so offered £400 for it all and got the MINT F5 + AF Nikkor 28-105mm D lens , a Cosina 19-35mm lens, 2 Speedlights SB-27 and SB-800, a Sekonic Meter Batteries original box etc etc -- it is 'The BEAST ' ! I have tried it with a old 50mm f2 Nikkor-H of my 'Gift ' FM here :

Finally after years of waiting, I bought a Pentax 6x7 body.
A non-mlu with a non-working metered prism (even though it was supposed to be working). Also purchased a near mint 75mm f4.5 and soon to arrive 135mm f4 macro.
Made a shutter speed adapter ring since one was not included. Loaded with Tri-X and will be shooting very soon.

I picked up a nice AE-1 Program with a 50mm 1.4 the other day for $75. Looking for something lighter in weight to carry on bicycle tours. It's an ok camera but I think I'll sell it and find an A-1. I prefer shooting manual and the AE-1 P doesn't really do it without a hand held meter.

Just picked up an Olympus M1 to add to my Olympus collection.

Here are some pics with the M-1, OM-1, OM-1md, OM-3 SLRs and my 35SP, 35RC, and 35RD rangefinders.
I had to repair all the rangefinders, all working fine now.

I've been more than happy with my Minolta AF cameras, the 9xi, 9 and 7, however I'd been seeing a lot of posts about the smaller Maxxum 5 and how light, handy and feature filled it is. Ran across one being offered at a reasonable price and bought it. Ran a test roll of Fujifilm400 through it and was amazed at the picture quality; all shot in Program mode and in AF. Enjoyed the lighter/smaller aspects of it also.

I recently got a minty circa-1961 Pen S via eBay (for an even hundred bucks including shipping from Japan) as a little brother for my Pen F.



It's even smaller and lighter, effortless to carry... and completely manual. More of a knockabout fun shooter than the pro-caliber Pen F, just throw it in a bag or pocket, leave it in the glove compartment. I have a long history with small manual cameras - Minox subminis, Petri Color 35, Pen EES-2, etc. - and am pretty good at estimating distance and exposure.

I shot a short (27 frames) test on Tri-X, and the 30mm/f2.8 Zuiko lens and 1/8-1/250 Copal shutter worked very nicely. Quick 2400dpi scans:



Note that the softness is in the scans, the negs are sharp under a loupe. I sometimes have difficulty getting negatives at the exact focus plane of my scanner, which is a tiny fraction above the glass, perfect for mounted slides. I've made custom masks out of different thickness of cardboard for the negs... but it's still hit or miss at times.

But I'm definitely pleased with the performance of this 60-plus-year-old beauty, it's a fun shooter. I've got a roll of Double-X in it now...

While I've owned it for 40 years, the Rolleiflex T( I acquired it from Navy Property Disposal along with a 2.8F) is just now up and shooting great photos. Also shooting a Yashica Mat 124G I just acquired on eBay. The light meter is actually accurate. The Rolleiflex 2.8F is in the shop for a major CLA...It didn't survive the 40 year hiatus as well as the T.

Last week, I picked up this Leica IIIf while at the local camera store. It was listed as in 'good' condition and came with a warranty, so I figured that I'd dip a toe into actual Leica waters. I already have a Zorki-1D that I like a whole lot and wanted to see if there was much of a difference between the two. I ordered a Canon 50mm f1.4 LTM lens from Japan to go with it. I had to adjust the rangefinder to get it right at infinity but other than that, it's been working well.

This was shot on the streets of Indianapolis yesterday afternoon. I'm quite happy with this camera. The original image shows almost no grain and clarity is very good. It was shot on Kentmere 100 and developed in replenished D-23.
