Pretty much, I just really liked the cool art deco design (I collect art deco type cameras) and some of the unique features like the opening strut system (that took a while to figure out how to close after I got it open).
I don't know if I will completely restore it to working condition to try out with film or not yet.
Time will tell.............

Another F2. Got it for $22.50, plus shipping. Am using it as a cosmetic parts donor for the cameras here, even though it is in working order. Will pass it on, with the less-nice cosmetic pieces to Sover Wong, so he can either use it as a parts donor, or can fix it up and either use it or sell it.

Found a back-up for my Leica IIIf. It's a IIIc (1950) with a coated 5cm/f3.5 Elmar (1949). Needs a little work from being stored for years but for $55 I'm not complaining.

My latest old camera was a New Canon F1 AE body I bought about 15 years ago from a friend. I'm not a habitual camera buyer, I would rather concentrate on using what I have more than constantly thinking what else I could buy

A place in Ann Arbor called The ShareHouse. They take donations and sell what they can. They rarely have camera equipment but during my visit I saw they had a beautiful leather Zeiss Ikon camera case for perhaps a Nettar folder or something like that. I open it up and there's the IIIc with lens inside. There also was a little note in the case that read, "Leica M $60". The owner and I talked for a while and she wrote it up for $55!

I originally went there looking for a paper shredder for my office and walked out completely forgetting about that. : )

Gambled on an as-is, doesn't work, parts camera - a late 1950's Topcon Beseler B that has interchangeable viewfinder. From what I can tell, the only other VF is a waist level.



When I first got it, the slower speeds were hanging up. After dry firing it a few times, all speeds seem to work just fine now. Very good cosmetic shape, viewfinder and Topcon lens are clean and clear, and everything seems to be functional.

It has a build that was typical of the era. Body weighs 814g and is bigger and heavier than a plain prism F at 694g. My Ricoh Singlex is still my heaviest at 826g. With lenses on, each of these weigh in at >1000g or >2lbs.



Got some TMAX in it now to check it all out.

I recently bought a Nikon FM2n from the infamous Prince Mongo here in Memphis. Mongo is a local eccentric, a crazy-as-a-fox former nightclub owner who claims to be from the planet Zambodia and has run for mayor a few times. He was recently featured on the TV show "American Pickers" and since then has started auctioning off collectibles on eBay to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Anyway, I bought the camera and an included 55mm Micro-Nikkor off him via eBay and is in great working condition except for a missing fold-out rewind lever.

And just last weekend, a local photo buddy gave me a Nikon 300/3.5 and a Tamron 500/8 mirror lens. Pretty sweet, if I can find often enough excuses to use them!

Picked up a Nikon fg-20 with e 50/1.8 along with a off brand flash, cpl, manuals and a roll of I don't how expired Fuji superia xtra400. My first foray into Nikon land (except for my L35AF). Everything appears to work normally. Put in that expired film (rate @100) and I am ready to shoot away. This is one compact slr and lens combo!

a Leica R4 for use with my Tamron Adaptalls. And a Minolta XE for the same purpose! My first Leica ever!

picked up a Minolta 3000i for 3.99 at Goodwill. Not anything worth a flip but wanted the Minolta 50/1.7 attached on the front as well as the flash unit attached on top. Not bad for $4.

From a yard sale last summer:

A Canon AE1 Program "The Official Camera of the 1984 Olympic Games," according to one of the lens caps, including Canon 35-70 and 50 mm lenses, a Vivitar 70-210 and an off brand 135 and 28, plus a bunch of 52 mm filters, case and other accessories. Everything works and was well cared for, and even though I've never owned a Canon, I couldn't let is pass by for $10.
I'll keep it until I run into a young whippersnapper who wants to get into film, and it will be my present.
