Tim, Love that 8x10 almost looks like a lens was used it is so good!

At last, I just submitted my entry to the WPPD site. As of the moment, it hasn't been reviewed but you can see the extent of my WPPD 2017, scans of 8x10 contact prints, in my PBase galleries. Those are all prints on Ilford MG RC using a #2 filter in the enlarger-used-as-light-source. Won't claim to have mastered HR-T, but at least managed to get some control over the results!

Gut feeling is with this new pinhole plate I finally got the pinhole too big, although some lack of sharpness may be breezes stirring the tree foliage -- the building is pretty solid. :D I think I may revisit that (even before it cracks and I'm forced to replace it!)

I didn't have a lot of time Sunday, so I hit an historic site in the next county west, got four for four tries, although number one can likely be used to view the upcoming eclipse. I'll call it a good day; definitely worked out better than last year.

Pinhole is not my thing, but specially on this day - I have made 3 pictures with Diana F+ on "pinhole" settings while taking a walk in the local forest . Will upload later.
There is still hope for you yet

I finally got around to developing my pinhole shots from World Pinhole Photography Day. Most of them turned out to be pretty boring, but this one was kind of fun so I submitted it.

Travelwide 4x5 with the included pinhole lens. About 3 second exposure on Portra 400.

I had fun, but my pinholes didn't come out well at all. It was my first (and likely last) try with this pinhole camera and my exposure was off and focus was bad (it was also pretty windy). Beach Pinhole-1.jpg Pier Pinhole-1.jpg

I agree with Ned. The beach scene is actually something that would work well as a big print.

More like a BIG AZZ ROOSTER!!! Nice one!

Got to get my negatives, contact printed and scanned and uploaded. Time is running out. Probably have to wait until next weekend, got to finish clearing out my storage unit.

Roger

Me too! Negatives are developed and contact printed, but I'd like to print a couple of them properly before submitting. Guess I know what I'll be doing next weekend... ;-)

I bought a box of Provia100F for my pinhole a while ago and finally used some on WPPD. I'm surprised and impressed how much I got out of such a simple camera. I shot three sheets of b/w since I got the camera and those were nice too, but Provia seems to be the icing on the cake. And I finally got my first large format slides. What a joy!

This was exposed for 58s. A bit flat. Maybe I should have given it a few seconds more?

The follwing in bright sun looks really brilliant and required 3s.

But I don't know how the slight fogging on the left came to be. Using an Ilford Camera Obscura it works without filmholder. I changed sheets in a changing bag sitting on park benches in the shade (no full sun). It happend only to this sheet. Still thinking which one to submit. Have another sunny one, as well.

NedL,

you might be right. The flowers have this pastel kind of look, that people overexpose Portra for. So would have had to sacrifice shadow detail for clarity.

The next “Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2017” (WPPD2017) is at hand: Sunday April 30th, 2016.

So NedL and I would like to ask you all to post a link here to your pinhole photograph from that day, as soon as you uploaded it to the WPPD Gallery (see also: http://www.pinholeday.org/participate/). You could also post some images here, if you like.

And remember: you have still ample time to tinker up a simple pinhole camera and get some film or photo paper to shoot with. Need help, tips or inspiration? Check this out: http://www.pinholeday.org/support/

What is WPPD-2017 about?
New to pinhole photography or WPPD?
“Anyone, anywhere in the world, who makes a pinhole photograph on the last Sunday in April, can scan it and upload it to this website where it will become part of the annual Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day celebration's online gallery.” http://www.pinholeday.org
There will be several workshops all around the world on this day. You don’t have to have experience or a pinhole camera yourself, there are often extra cameras available to use (but ask in advance). You can locate a local event here: http://www.pinholeday.org/events/index.php

Sincerely,
The Ambassadors of Pinhole Photography
