I bought a Canon EF 70-200 f4 L IS USM and a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 with about a million abbreviations behind it and got a camera bag, a Canon EOS 7D, and a Canon speedlight with them. I wanted the lenses for my Canon EOS 1V.

I bought some Kodak Portra 160 (35mm) and Ektar 100 at Camera Corral in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. This appears to be the last real camera store in Northern Idaho, eastern Washington. It is a nice little store with some used stock.

If you want another option for a camera store, you need to drive to the Seattle metropolitan area to Glazers or Kenmore Camera

I found a steal at the local flea market yesterday - a Marchioni Tiltall tripod that seems to be in perfect working condition... for ten dollars!

Now I don't NEED another tripod, but this has been a long time coming. Way back in 1972 when I was an aspiring teenage filmmaker, on one of our many trips to the 32nd Street camera stores, I bought a Star-D Pro tripod at Camera Barn (for around $30) to use with my Super 8 camera.

Since as a pro studio we had free subscriptions to all the photo magazines, I was already aware that the Star-D was a cheaper knockoff of the famous Tiltall... which would soon become even more famous when Leitz put their brand name on it a couple of years later. Anyway, after knowing of the Tiltall for over fifty years, I now have one.

For the record, my "lesser" Star-D Pro always gave me great service and remains an excellent piece of gear... but now it's got an older brother. New Tiltall in the front, trusty Star-D behind.

That is a steal. I'm still waiting to find one somewhere. Like you, I don't need another tripod, but I doubt I'd be able to not buy a Tiltall if I found one in the wild.

Allows me to view the ground glass for composition & magnified focus check. They sometimes get a bad rep, but I think it's a great alternative for moments when I don't want to be bother with the dark cloth.

I had two rolls of 35mm Tri-X processed, scanned and had contact sheets done at Flagstaff Camera. No darkroom yet and just too many projects right now to do anything processing in the kitchen so it was awesome that we have a lab here in Flagstaff that caters to film based photography.

When you have a Star-D you don’t need a tree to hang your food from bears.

A very nice Super Ikonta IV for cheap; issues were non-functional meter and beginning of separation of the Tessar’s rear lens element. Don’t care about the meter and I replaced the lens element with one from an older folder I wasn’t using. Rangefinder is bright and accurate; shutter speeds well within tolerances, film advance works flawlessly. Other than the stupid EVS interlock it’s an ideal travel camera. Sometimes you win at eBay.

Nice kit. I used to have the 70-200 non-IS version back when it was the bees knees. Probably the sharpest lens I ever used.
The 7D is the camera I use for digital. It's robust and functional; back when I bought it, the alternative was a 6D full frame, but I liked the 7D better and the potential for weight savings (smaller glass) was relevant to me. Never regretted the choice, either. I never owned the 24-70 Tamron; I'm sure it's a nice piece of glass as well.

On my end, I got some inkjet paper samplers, ranging from budget options to Hahnemühle. I'm hoping to find one or two papers that are economically more attractive than the Hahnemühle range but offer somewhat comparable performance. Even in a handful of sample packs the number of options and finishes is dazzling. It'll take some time and effort to test this properly!

My last purchase was some spare bulbs for my enlarged and Ilford SFX and E100 in 120 format. I'll pick up some new Kentmere 200 too next time I'm downtown.

I have the Canon EF 80-200 f/2.8 L aka 'magic drain pipe' for my EOS 5 and EOS 5Dii. It's a very sharp and nice lens, and the newer ones are even sharper.

A Tamron 60-300mm Macro Zoom f3.8/5.4.

I had a one-touch Minolta MD (Cosina) 75-300mm Macro Zoom f4.5/5.8 which is very compact (55mm filter thread) and light for a zoom reaching to 300mm. It focuses down to 1:4 magnification, but it doesn’t produce a very bright viewfinder. Several days ago, a Kalimar (also sold under other brand names) 60-300mm Macro Zoom f3.9/5.6 landed in my lap – with a Minolta lens mount. While substantially larger and heavier than the Minolta, it has a wider zoom range, is also a one-touch zoom, and a brighter viewfinder – which requires a larger 62mm filter thread. In addition, it focuses down to 1:2.8 magnification.

I was thinking of trading in the Minolta for the Kalimar, but then I remembered the one-touch Tamron 60-300mm Macro Zoom f3.8/5.4. It’s as big as the Kalimar with its 62mm filter thread, but makes the viewfinder slightly brighter. In addition, it focuses down to 1:2 magnification. Plus I already had a Minolta Adaptall-2 lens mount.

I was able to find one on EBAY in perfect shape – without an Adaptall-2 lens mount – for $35 total.

But I’m not done. Now I’ve got to sell my Minolta and Kalimar.

I ordered a Voigtlander 25mm f/4 Snapshot thread mount lens from a Japanese seller. The vendor claims it has no haze and fungus, so I'll check if it is frèe of the infamous CV haze. I also considered the new 28mm 2.8 Skopar ltm lens, but I want a slightly wider view.
