Well there’s a Nikon F6 waiting for me when I get home from the hospital. My gallbladder went bad and had to come out, sure didn’t see that one coming. Guess it’s my get well present. 🙂

I hear you on the get well present. 4 years ago I had my cancerous prostate removed and as part of recovery I went online and bought 6 reel-to-reel tape machines, a couple 8-track decks, and a slew of 8-track tapes. A few weeks ago I had a hernia repaired (sort of a side effect from the previous surgery) and for recovery I didn’t go as crazy but did buy a film cartridge for my Minolta 16P and some film.

Late Nikon FM. A GAS is a GAS. Besides, it was dirt cheap.

Even the Jupiter 12s are well over $100 now.
Huh. And mine's been sitting screwed to my enlarger, with not much to do. Perhaps I should re-evaluate it.

I ordered two 35mm box end holders in yellow from CameraDactyl.com, I received a hand full of black and white 120 and 35mm holders instead. Not what I wanted or needed. Of course on their website they choose not to have any contact information. Now we know why.

A very nice late 90mm f6.8 Angulon, box full of Paterson tanks and spirals and some Jobo spirals as well, two SLRs, £50 & £20.

The SLRs were cheap, both Quarter plate. The Houghton Ensign Pressman is fully functional, the TP Ruby Reflex needs new shutter curtains, both will have new mirrors and brighter focus screens. . . . . . . soon.

How about what I didn’t buy? I was out with a local sketching group and during some post-drawing socializing, the subject of photography came up and one of the members said “oh, I’ve got all my late grandfather’s photography gear but I’m never going to use it. It’s really old, you know, the kind of stuff where you went under the cloth on the back of the camera.”

I summoned up enough willpower not to dive into that, after all, it’s that type of thing that has filled my man cave with reel-to-reel machines, 8-track decks, and hundreds upon hundreds of tapes and the gear to support it all.

Someone has to stimulate the economy, go back there and make an offer even if you do not see the equipment.

14x17 X-ray film arrived. Thanks FedEx for not ringing my door bell, and letting the box sit in the sun for two hours. Thanks a lot.

Just ordered a lens hood for normal lens in 40.5 mm thread, to fit my Kiev/Contax lenses (may not be wide enough for the Jupiter-12, though). I've never used a hood before...

Back in Autumn of 2019, I bought a Mamiya Six folder, and leather carrying case from a seller in Japan. He shipped it to my Mother-in-law's since I was going there in the following March. Well, you know what kicked off in March... So, that little beauty has been sitting there (in wife's uncle's humidity controlled box!). My wife is going there to visit her family next month. By end of October, I'll have you, my pretty!

Hasselblad A70 back, at last!

Just as I hit send on this post, the post office sent a text, at 4:04, telling my my A70 back just shipped out of a local sorting station.

Weird, no?

A 35mm Pentax Super A. I like that thing a lot and will probably snatch another one at some point, bringing the total to three (one is for parts sadly)

You need a bigger cave.

Exactly. I’ve already expended into part of the other house we bought across the street and use as a rental. I have couple cars and a boat stashed over there. If the tenant leaves I’ll argue to get the whole house.

I just hope one day I will have enough time to play with everything.
I have a half dozen R2R's, a few early ones that are in parts, an 1962 Akai that I converted to a guitar valve amp, base model Kenwood and TIAC from the 70's that are in service and still going strong and a beast of a OTARI MX5050 which probably needs a bit of a proper service, but working. Medias the problem, lot of sticky tapes around and anything new is very expensive.

Back on topic I received 2x 16mm films one 1600', one half that size is a bit acidic smell, but looks ok. Not sure what's on them, hopefully not R rated as I will set up open air in the back yard to watch on my 1948 Bell & Howell 601.

A Nikon AR-1 shutter release, a Canon metal hood for my Canon 85mm & 100mm lenses, a Rollei focusing knob that fits over the small knob on early Rolleiflex.

I hear you. I’ve got over a dozen reel-to-reels and a flock of 8-track machines and all the media to go with them. Luckily, the kids moved away and I staked out lots of territory. My reel-to-reel (actually, magnetic tape) fascination is here:

A Bell & Howell branded Dial 35-2. Fully functioning after a quick relube, including the AE/meter with an LR44 shimmed into the battery holder.

DSCN1515~2.JPG

If you encounter one in the wild, be aware the winding and cocking mechanism require film loaded to function. You can manually arm the shutter by opening the back and spinning the sprocket gear.

The sound of the clockwork advance is decidedly NOT discreet, but isn't triggered until you remove your finger from the shutter button.
