Nice! You'll love it! Such a good camera!! I opted for the 8x10 and simply cut a dark slide in half for 4x10 work but it does make doubt wide angle shots with the 210mm and 150mm difficult as the bellows become difficult to work with on full rise and fall, but there's just enough room for both fortunately!

Good luck!!

And on the tiny end of things I just bought a pack of 35mm sleeves, getting tired of having to use an xacto knife on the "ultima" sleeves that they can't seem to cut properly, definitely not buying those again.... Plain old thin ones for me from now on.

Stone:

I think you are running into the same problem that I just recently started encountering.

Traditionally, the sleeving material that labs used fit film quite closely. The Ultima pages are designed for that sleeving material. Until very recently, every film I got back from the labs I use fit the Ultima pages nicely.

Without warning, it seems that the labs I use changed sleeving material. That new sleeving material is too big to fit into the Ultima pages.

It may be that the labs were forced to change. One person I know in the industry mentioned to me that the sleeving material they had used for years was no longer available.

Hmm that is a problem, but not mine.

I actually don't use sleeving material in my sleeves as their sleeves themselves, I know that many people like to do that as it reduces scratching, but I've never had any scratches on any of my thumb and I don't see a point in starting to use those extra additional sleeves now.

My problem is actually that print file themselves have terrible quality control in multiple times I've had issues with their sleeves, I always order directly from them rather than going through B&H Photo or another place like that, but I think maybe I'm going to start because it seems like when I order direct from them I get a crap order that with manufactured poorly, sometimes the holes were in the wrong place so they didn't fit in the binders that they themselves sold me as well, if you notice they recently made some of the holes oval in shape, that's totally because of my complaints I'm sure about it not fitting, however they would tell me that it fit on there and and so they couldn't see what the problem was, well why would they change the size of the hole and shape of the hole if there was no problem?

The problem I'm specifically talking about is the fact that the actual hole where you slide the film into the sleeve itself, was not cut properly, so half the time I can't use the second or third strip at all because it's not cut the seal is unbreakable without actually using an X-Acto knife to cut open the edge, it looks really rowdy and it could probably scratch my phone more then otherwise if it were working properly. Here is an image so that you can see what I'm talking about.

As you can see, the plastic is all tore up at the edge there, that's because the material is so thick the exact a knife does not cut a nice clean edge but instead cuts ready edge and I kind of basically just have to rip it, this seems to happen every other page and it specifically in the same spot the second and third strips. I called them about it and they said they had no such issue and they refused to take a refund on my sleeves.

Ten rolls of Tri-x 35mm. The Jobo reels arrived yesterday, so now I have six of them. I'm going to put two more on my Christmas wish list, along with an extension column. It's actually pretty nice to be done with buying camera gear and focus on shooting film again. I'm definitely going to break out the 5x12 and take it out to Roosevelt Island early some morning to get more shots of the Roosevelt monument and the city views from the waterline.

What I should have asked is what is the purpose of this? Thanks for sharing!

a packet of polysulfide toner from Photographer's Formulary; the other packet was doa after sitting on my shelf for three years while i got the nerve up to mix it. So now, I'm really gonna do it! ... and a kit of bromoil bleach from Bostick & Sullivan for the demo i'm giving this weekend on bromoil.

life is good! as long as you don't watch the news

Popped into Boots, they had 2 rolls of BW400CN left so I bought them on their promo which works out at £5.25 a roll. Both dated long into 2016. I will be pretty annoyed if I find that I really like this film now it is discontinued but I decided to buy and shot all these films to see what I missed.

Which size? I've got a few extra 1500 series I need to get rid of.

Stone, to get back to the Saltzman and contrast filtration for a second, I thought of some of the hybrid selective masking techniques Alan Ross uses, and since you are a partially d1g1t4l guy, it occurred to me maybe you could just ink-jet some filters on some sort of transparent medium and use them with a diffusion head. They might not last as long as dyed gel filters, but I would think it would be cheap to make new ones when they fade. To start off, you could save additional money by just printing two filters (one at each end of the contrast spectrum) and split filtering to get intermediate grades. Personally I dislike that gimmick but it can save you some dough.

You think I'm a lot more digital than I am, I don't even know how to print a photo with my inkjet printer, I only print documents on normal paper.

Until recently, when I started learning darkroom printing, I would send all my photos to Dwayne's and have the digital files printed by their LightJet/Lambda printer on RA4 paper.

None of my work is ink jet. It would cost me more to make my own considering I would first need to find a clear base that's small enough for an 8x10 "all in one" printer, I know those massive printers that take clear base rolls, but again, not cheap.

Thanks I'll just keep searching for ilford filters. Thanks!

Two bottles of Fixer concentrate from B&H. Not very exciting but ya gotta have it on hand. (I almost ran out and that caused me much distress)

Some HC-110 from a local camera shop, and a Leica copy stand, some 5x7 film, a film washer and an enlarging lens from a photographic stuff flea market.

Being newly retired, I'm still trying to adapt to a reduced income. I have little discretionary income but through trading existing photography items, I have acquired 3 new cameras last week that I'm very excited about. A Bronica S2a has already arrived in the mail, and I'm anticipating the arrival of an Olympus XA4, and, wait for it, a Plaubel Makina W67. I'm a happy guy.

This flurry of activity followed several years of "being done". It must be the extra time on my hands, and you know what they say about idle hands.
