what waS your last photography related purchase?

Not a purchase but an unexpected package was delivered to me today as a Xmas gift from a used camera dealer I won’t name. A first generation praktica SLR with waist level finder. In working order it seems and I have a ton of m42 lenses I can stick on it if I ever shoot it.

Fluke multimeter 115 for camera, colourhead repair.

I'm tired of half baked readings battery, etc, with automobile and Harbor Freight tools and i hope to take a class I electronics later in this new year.

I can never remember how to use those fancy meters, I have a nice digital one but I grab a old cheap analog sweep needle job most of the time.

My most-used meter is a $10 miniature one with only the most basic functionality. It's fine for anything DC or LF AC that I ever come across. Anything more dynamic requires a proper scope anyway, so why bother having a more fancy meter? I never saw the point.

I got a fancy Astro meter because it measures capacitance, inductance, and temp IIRC.

If it is the FX series, look at the back of both shutter curtains while shining a bright light at the lens opening. If you see tiny dots shining through, coat both curtains with Tulip black fabric paint.

I’ll take a look but it may be a while before I can get around to shooting it. I’m embarrassed to tell you how many cameras I have partial rolls in.

If you are going to confess to that failure, this is the correct support group to make the disclosure to!

If all I was going to do was read microamps for an AA or 9v battery, a Harbor Freight cheap/free red meter would do, but I need better for the future and this, will give better service, I hope.

Enjoy your new to you camera.

My latest acquisition was a bonanza. Full set of hydrometers. Included in the case: a half dozen mercury thermometers, three C and three F.

Two pair are the same scale as the Kodak Type 3 and seem accurate.

The most sensitive F is driving me nuts because after rejoining the broken column top and bottom, it loses seven degrees across the scale. Suspect a bubble of air the equivalent of seven degrees at low pressure is in the base and as you get near the top the pressure compresses the gap to near nothing. It’s close to accurate at the top of the scale.

That's a nice B&W photo in its own right.

I've purchased some meniscus lens materials.

I bought a Jobo 1520 tank from B&H - since it's cheaper to get a new one from there than to get a used one from ebay - I broke the lid of mine a couple of days ago (it's quite old). I resisted the urge to buy

great for drinking used developer....

Purchasing a 49mm Pentax K mount reversing ring to take better macro digitizations for half frame.

Got a Kodak Series VI adapter ring & lens hood for my Kodak Monitor 616, which I also sent out to get CLA'ed & the bellows taken out/replaced with new bellows. Just waiting for the repair place to email me the bill when they finish with everything.

50mm C Czech lens for Hass

I keep the manuals close by with a
T.I. 89 Plat. T CALCULATOR and it's manual, just so I can use both machines and, hopefully get things right.

Got a Soligor Spot Sensor II off ebay for ~$66

These three books. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Leica R camera system. To me, they’re the best-looking cameras ever made.

Minolta spot meter F, from KEH.

I'm moving my Pentax V to backup, for now, but it's in great shape, the Minolta is simply easier to read.

Other than chemistry, I feel I've enough hardware, etc, on hand for everything I want to do.
