An excellent condition Graflex Grafmatic "45" film holder for Graflock backs, from fellow APUG member "Tony D". From my note to him a few minutes ago confirming receipt:

"I have used a 4x5 Crown Graphic with standard holders for years now. I had always wanted to try a Grafmatic, but I couldn't exactly visualize how the darn thing actually worked. Now that I see one, I'm even more impressed. What a cleverly designed solution from the golden age of mechanical engineering. I mean, those guys were really, really good."

Sometimes... when I see the imagination and cleverness that went into these early cameras... all I can do is smile... and respectfully nod my head in appreciation. And then go out and honor those engineers by continuing to use their excellent creations as they were originally designed and intended to be used.

Somewhere I hope they are nodding and smiling as well...

Several strips of spruce wood, from the local modelmaker shop. These will be used to make the back fittings for another 4x5" pinhole camera. The bulk of the body of the camera will be two layers of black 5mm foamboard, as usual. In terms of fun-per-Euro this is a pretty good buy

An Alphax #3 shutter is on its way, I'm a bit annoyed as I contacted the ebay seller as the tracking showed only he's done a USPS lable. I was told it had been dropped off at the USPS office on the 9th. Strange the tracking shows it was picked up from the seller the day after I called !!!!

Two 16x20 frames. I've decided to start printing smaller again, and am going to experiment with smaller prints in 16x20 frames. It's too expensive to keep printing 11x14 as standard size and 16x20 is even worse. Can't really afford it.

Next time I'm printing I'm trying 6x6" and 5x5" size for square, to see how it looks. The 6x6 size looks nice on paper as a loose print, when top weighted. I also like how that looks in a frame that's quite large for the picture. 5x5 might be too small.

Pack film for my Polaroid.

Got some actual Polaroid film from someone who bought a lot of film that included five packs of old Polaroid film he had no use for. Don't know if it'll even work, but for five packs at twenty bucks I'll take that chance.

And then got 8 packs of Fuji FP-3000b, most of it not quite expired yet, for about $13/pack. Not a steal or anything, but better than the $17.50 they're going for on B&H right now.

A pair of 58/5.6 Konica Hexanons on a Koni-Omegaflex board. The taking lens is in a bizarre and generally useless #0 shutter, the viewing lens is in barrel. Otherwise they're identical.

I have a 60/5.6 Konica Hexanon from a Koni-Omega that I reshuttered in a proper Copal 0. It is a very useful lens on 2x3, will make infinity on a 2x3 Speed Graphic. More-or-less an f/8 (six elements in four groups) Super Angulon clone. The 58/5.6 is a newer presumably better design, roughly an f/5.6 (eight elements in four groups) SA clone. Should be marginally better than the 60, which it replaced on the K-O. We'll see.

Big surprise was that although the 60's rear cell will hit a Copal #0 Press shutter's diaphragm, the 58's rear cell doesn't.

I feel somewhat like a barbarian for turning a perfectly good Koni Omegaflex 58 lens set into parts. The cameras are rare, 58 lens sets are rarer. But it was offered on eBay in, as they say, open outcry and I was the only person who wanted it.

More silver nitrate, potassium iodide, and more papers for salt printing. Also some amber glass bottles... I need to make a larger quantity of some calotype sensitizing solution, and it is frustrating to get stuck because of something as silly as not having the right size bottle!

an XA from darko, as a backup for the XA I already have. But it's a better working camera in all respects so I'll retire the old one.

two 5x4 holders and a part-pack of FP4 in 5x4 all for an absurdly low price from ebay. although she no longer uses LF, the seller is a pro wedding photographer using film exclusively . interesting.

I ordered some raw chemicals: 450 grams of pure Vitamine-C, 500 grams of Kaliumbromide (KBr, a.k.a. Pottasium bromide). And I got me some very strong instant coffee (Robusta extra dark & strong) in a supermarket for mixing more Caffenol developer.

I've already used some homebrew Caffenol-C-M for developing Fomapan 100 and Ilford FP4+. And now I've found a source for KBr so I can mix some Caffenol-C-L as well for developing Ilford HP5+, Fomapan 400 and Kodak Tri-X.

Developing with coffee is easy and fun!!

A dry mounting press that takes 16x20. I finally have something that will flatten my prints of that size effectively.

I won't be using it for dry mounting purposes, as I always use photo corners and hinge the window mat. But it is a nice piece of equipment for flattening prints.

Then I sold an 18mm f/2.8 Sigma Pentax K-mount lens, a 35-75 K-mount zoom (Vivitar Series 1), and a bunch of other photo related things. Getting rid of a lot of dead wood to purchase a few good new things. Feels nice!

A 2nd old Tamrac 4620 messenger 2 camera bag. Love this one... inexpensive, versatile and smaller. Fits a graflex Super Graphic or a TLR + small rangefinder, or a pair of 35mm. Handsome and well made.
