I think I need to extend the 1st developer.

Another option I've used in the past is to add a small amount of sodium thiosulfate to the first dev. This will lighten the final positive overall without increasing contrast; extending the first dev time will increase contrast more than it lightens the shadows.

Pentax LX, Lomography Color Negative 36exp, developed at home, CineStill CS-41 developed 3:59m at 39° C, JOBO CPE2 Plus, JOBO 1520 tank. There was a roll of FujiColor Super HQ 200 24exp of unknown age (2004-07 ?), developed with this roll that looked like it had been exposed to light.

@Donald Qualls Thanks for the suggestion. Any recommendation to amount of sodium thiosulfate?

As I recall it was single digit grams per liter, but I'll try to remember to check my records when I'm at home (tonight or over the weekend).

Nikon F, Micro Nikkor 55mm f3.5, Kodak Tri-X 400, Clayton F76 (lab processed and scanned). This was my first roll through the recently acquired Nikon F, certainly a nice camera and enjoyable to use. Love the sound the shutter makes, very cool, also happy with the Micro-Nikkor.

Canon New F1 AE, FD 28/2.0, Fuji Superia 400, to be developed/scanned by The Darkroom when I finish the roll of Cinestill BWXX in my Canon VT and the roll of Lomo Tiger in my Rollei A110 (hopefully both this weekend).

This is the first roll through the F1. I shot color so I could more easily evaluate the performance because I'm very familiar with the emulsion (been shooting it or its predecessors for over 30 years). I put it on Aperture Priority mode and let the camera manage the exposure to remove any human-based adjustment.

Kiev 88 w/30mm Arsat shooting 120 Kentmere 400, developed in 1 year old DF96 Monobath for 6 min @ 70F in a Patterson tank. Came out a little light, but since it was just a frame spacing test, I was OK with that. I was surprised it did as well as it did, frankly...

Agat 18k, Ilford Delta 400 exposed at EI 800, developed in Microphen 1+1 for 15:30 at 20 °C, Microphen stock mixed about 4 months ago.

This combination works surprisingly well, enabling to use it for interior locations if lighting is decent, nice for casual pics. Also when carefully loaded and unloaded, can get 81 frames per roll (half frame camera)

Canon EOS 5 with Fomapan 400 pushed to 1600. Developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 20 minutes @ 20 degrees C with continuous but slow agitation for the first 30 seconds, then for 10 seconds every other minute. A recipe for overwhelming grain..

1939 Contax II and uncoated 5cm f/2 Sonnar, loaded with expired Agfa film... was told it was APX100, but likely old Aviphot based on the super-thin carrier.

Exposed as 50 ASA, developed in HC-110, E, 15min @ 20C. Looks okay, but has poor detail in darker areas.

A simple point and shoot mechanical camera Premier. Film Foma200. The development is standard in the Foma developer for 6 minutes, the fixer is overdue by 20 years.

A mind quietly blown

After having my time (couple of years) reversing medium speed 135 BW negatives on gray bases, I started to loose the spark for it... But yesterday I put some Adox HR-50 through my Olympus OM-1n, Ilford Reversal Processing and my slide projector with quality lens.

What I got was absolutely stunning - THAT character and THE performance: the amount of detail and sharpness in 60x magnification - a sight to behold! Suddenly my shots are full of life and detail, and it actually looks like I've turned on some unsharp filter in my projector. That's an impossibility, though, but the effect is the same and quite pronounced next to Kentmere 100/APX 100 and Rollei Infrared 400.

60x magnification and HR-50 delivers images absolutely packed with sharp detail, vivid contrast and creamy highlights prone to blooming! Now I'm impressed again and have bought some film stock in advance for the first time in my life - all slow, all on clear bases - can't wait for spring to return, to put these through Infrared filter too!
