Silver has gone up.

Let's assume that the silver load in FB paper is somewhere around 2g/m2. Spot price of silver today is around €1/g, but let's say in reality Harman pay a little more due to the combined effects of additional costs, also because they use silver nitrate instead of raw silver, and put this at €1.50/g. That's around €3.00 per m2 in cost of silver per m2 of FB paper. Here in Europe, MGWT costs something like €36/m2 retail excl. VAT. You can figure out what an increase of let's say 50% in silver price does. Mind you, it does a lot more to Harman than it'll do to you, because the first part of the retail price buildup that gets eaten is Harman's own margin.

I’ve been wondering about the price trend for baryta, but can’t find any info.

Assume it's up like anything else, but not ridiculously so. Barium sulfate is not particularly special or scarce. I don't expect it's a factor of particular significance in the price buildup. I bet the paper base proper is a bigger cost driver.
