First, do as Matt suggests and test the negatives in different orientation and see if the banding changes position. (I bet you will find that it does) I honestly believe you will find the bands are not on your negatives.
This looks to be a common fault encountered with the V series Epson scanners. I had an extensive discussion with Epson about this, and they acknowledged that this is a problem that occurs when two things occur: there is significant amount of rebate (blank) area of film visible to the scanner, and secondly, when an area of great density (blank sky, etc) is the first thing the scanner meets when it starts its travel, and this is especially true when the high density section is encountered at the outer edges of the scan bed. Epson knows about this, and they say its mainly a software issue, which they have not fixed (nor do they intend to, apparently). The "fix" is an altered film holder they can send you, which simply has an additional band of plastic in the holder at the outer edges, which occludes the rebate area when scanning. It resolved my problems 99% of the time, but its a bit of a kludge and it does require sacrificing some of the negative, especially if your TLR makes larger image area negs, as my Autocord and Rolleiflex do. The Hasselblad makes the smallest image area on film of all my 6X6's and it is those negatives that were the biggest problem.
The attached photo from a few years back is an excellent example of the problem. Be aware that sometimes it can appear as 2 or 3 bands of density, or it can appear as a single band looking like a darker edge. If you contact Epson, odds are they will send you replacement neg carriers.
