I use Jobo reels, tanks and processors and I have not had these problems.
Yeah that may be the ticket. I have a tank, so will just need to pick up a reel.

I crimp with the best of them...never trust that first frame onto the SS reel! But usually I calm down after the first roll and the next few rolls go on easier and less crimps...usually load 4 rolls for two 2-reel tanks. This is usually after a long spell of doing LF. No reels for those pups!Tell me about it! This is why I hate metal reels. I'm sure some flawless ppl are rapid loading experts and never have crimping issues but the rest of us live among the mortals and its just sometimes a little tricky for whatever reason. I used the metal real b/c my plastic one broke.

Well, that eliminates that possible problem. No, I've been using the same back consistently without issue. Maybe it's possible the roll became partially unspooled (asymmetric to one side) either when loading or unloading.
