Ilford FP4+ in 35mm, attempting to learn how to frame my shots better and to learn how to use contrast filters.

Many of them. I've been experimenting some after getting some really beautiful negatives a few years ago on t-grained films. Also, using different films and developer combos. I had all but given up 35mm for 120, but I have an overseas trip coming up, specifically to photograph! So, I'll take my little Fuji 645, but I also got out the 35mm gear for portability and weight. I really wanted to settle on one film to further simplify things.

Anyway, long story short: the winner turned out to be Tri-X and D76. (with a little Delta 100 along, too)

Well...it is "winter" here on the Left Coast, and although the rainy season has yet to return in its usual form (the sun has actually put in a few appearances here and there), I have more-or-less switched exclusively to black and white mode for the next couple of months . So, while I have been shooting a bit of FP4+ with the Hasselblads, most days it is the F4s (still trying to establish a relationship with the camera - two attempts to give it away fell flat) loaded with HP5+/Tri-X. Now to convince myself to start tackling the backlog of film in the freezer that needs to be processed; perhaps a few weeks of unrelenting rain will be needed to keep me housebound on the weekends...

Last weekend I shot an expired (2005) roll
of Kodak Portra 400NC in my Mamiya C3. I prefer shooting B&W but my husband likes me to shoot color, so I decided to capture some color while there's still some to be had and while my last batch of Flexicolor C-41 chemistry for the year still has its mojo.

I shoot a lot of different films every session, but it seems like the dominant ones are Arista EDU Ultra 100, 400, and Premium 400 in the BW world. And expired Kodak Portra 160NC when I shoot color.

My last 3 rolls were Arista EDU Ultra 100 and today I finished off a roll of Arista Premium 400. Mostly because they were handy.

This past week I have shot Ektar 100 and Ilford HP5+. I'm going to be trying some Fuji Across 100 when it gets here tomorrow.

I just got 15 rolls of C41 processed by a local lab (Gaslamp Photo in San Diego, CA) with some of them being 2+ years since I photographed with the stock.

Really very happy with the quality of everything and very impressed by Portra, even more than I had been. Will be putting scans of prints up in the Gallery here as I can get them transferred into 1s and 0s.

Short rant: Make some prints if you haven't in a while!

I shot a roll of 35mm Portra 400 last weekend in the OM2 and I was astonished as to how nice it looked. So I shot another today. Hoping to be just as blown away when i get it back.

This morning I shot 6 sheets of Kodak TRX-320 and 2 rolls of Acros 100 (120). So I got to shoot my two favorite films on one day

( and I do have 30 rolls of 120 Plus-X hidden away )

I would shoot 20 rolls if Plus-X plus kill the FOMA then get FP4+ and mix and match the two till you can get what you want out of the FP4+ since that way you can shoot the same scene with both films and compare and adjust Dev / exposure if needed. But don't let that Plus-X sit too long, it's already fairly old

Foma responds very well to tanning/staining and 2 bath development-ADOX CHS 100 is fantastic though, unless Verichrome Pan[RIP:cry:] rises from the grave some time soon:wizard:..

I got a box of Foma100 in 4x5 the other day, just to try it out. I've also scored some boxes of 4x5 Plus-X Pan that I'm hanging out to try too.

But none of that today, I'm off to Canberra for a few days tonight, packing:
Mamiya 645AF, P67 45/4, 80/1.9N, trying Ektar100 for the first time. (along with Delta3200 for indoor pub shots, Efke25 and PanF50 for outdoors, and some Velvia50 for the hell of it)
Bessa L with 21/4, also trying Ektar 100 for the first time in 135-size (and more rolls of Velvia).
Bessa R3A with 40/1.4 Nokton and 90/3.5 ApoLanthar, and a few rolls of Tri-X 400.

Mostly I'm interested in comparing the Ektar and Velvia, although it won't be completely side-by-side, it should give me a nice indication of what Ektar is capable of...
