I'm not sure what the market is for another 35mm 100 speed film, there are many Tmax and Delta, PF4, Foma, Kentmere and Finess in bulk load as well as many clones. Fine grain as compared to Tmax 100 or Foma 100?
This happened when Kodak re-released Ektachome. The scans they posted on social media weren't so great. Film turned out okay. You can't really tell anything without the negatives in your hands, which is why everyone posting scans of Ferrania wasn't that helpful either. If you are interested in exploring this new film, you are just going to have to order a few rolls and see for yourself. The internet is good for some things, not so good for others.
Anyone seen what a roll of this new ORWO film is going to cost?
People will buy ORWO with or without scans because it is new and different. ORWO will have no trouble selling its initial run of 36,000 rolls. If the Orwo marketing people follow the "If you are interested in exploring this new film, you are just going to have to ignore these crappy-looking scans we're posting here, order a few rolls and see for yourself." marketing strategy, I guarantee you they will sell zero rolls.
I mean, if i'm looking for a nominal "ISO 100" film i can choose between killer films like Delta 100, Acros II 100, TMax 100, FP4, Adox CHS II 100; then I can even pay less and get Fomapan 100, which can look much better than those scans of course. And then there's the offers from Rollei too, Shanghai GP3, etc. So they need to do something to steer the potential customer into believing there is some compelling reason to buy this "Orwo NP100" instead of the aforementioned film. Some reason! So far I can't see any.
I wish all the success to the Original Wolfen factory/brand, and I keep fingers crossed and wish them success with their color film. But these sample pictures
I hope they don't promote these sample shots too much, they look horrible.
There seems to be remarkable consistency across these films.
I would go as far as saying these are the worst scans I've seen in a long time. Seems to be a combination of poor exposure, poor development, and massive tampering with both highlights and shadows in photoshop. Truly terrible, especially the following one:

WOLFEN DP31 - 36EXP
WOLFEN DP31 features a low ISO and a small exposure latitude, making it perfect for pinhole, portraits and street scene snaps. This black and white film navigates inter-tonal shifts with ease resulting in rich, low grain depictions with vibrant microcontrast. WOLFEN DP31 is perfect for seasoned...www.orwo.shop
I'm not liking the sample pictures.
As per the new Orwo shopping site, the scans posted in the earlier announcement of their new film Wolfen NP100 are by doreenboehnke.
But one thing is clear - Orwo hired a professional photographer to shoot their new film.

A photographer who to own statement since 2004 only works digital.
And who also thought that this was a good idea.

Is she missing a thumb on her left hand? I guess I shouldn't throw stones as I live in a glass house. My Photoshop skills swapping body parts aren't that great. She seems to have fractures on both forearms as well.
I miss the old days when a film manufacturer would give a new film to a master, or at least someone that knew what they were doing. Can't tell anything about this film from those images. Kind of sad to see.
I wonder if they are going to improve their distribution here in the US. Almost impossible to find their films here and ORWOna is always out.
I see they have a new 400 speed film coming out in a few months. I'll have to get some of that when it is available.
