Caring for my late wife, and now trying to bring several projects to completion, I have neglected my pedal harp for a very long time. The last time I looked, about 6 months ago, a lot of broken strings. Afraid to look under its cover. By now, will probably have to replace almost all strings. Well, there goes the money for a new Zeiss lens.

My 6 1/2 year grandson is a big Star Wars fan. He enjoys orchestral performances of SW music. Not to mention LEGO SW kits. Also a fan of Good, Bad, and Ugly. He has memorized whole chunks of Clint Eastwood dialogue, and with a mix of Mommy’s and Daddy’s old clothes, has created a facsimile of Eastwood’s outfit, and walks around the house reciting lines from the movie. I can’t remember. Where I put the daily paper.

I forgot to mention one important rule to keeping active in one’s later years: Don’t hang around old people. Their very air is poison. When I was younger, I enjoyed the company of older people. Now I prefer company of young people. Perhaps that is the way it’s supposed to be.

.... You are only on the way out when you don’t notice a beautiful woman.
My father in law lived to be 97.
His rule. Never stuff yourself. Only eat to 80% full. Even at 97 he took notice of a pretty girl.
Maybe that's what did him in? Now you got me worried.

I've heard kids complain endlessly about how difficult something is, how much time it would take, how something is so hard .. and then when they actually did what it is they were complaining about it took like 10 minutes after complaining for 45 minutes or at times 4 hours.
does it matter if someone isn't a virtuoso if they are just doing it for self enjoyment, experience, a hobby &c? rather than comparing oneself to the "great ones". how about comparing oneself to oneself, whether it is oneself from yesterday or 35 minutes ago? it can become very discouraging if one is always comparing oneself to someone who might have innate abilities. can 't draw if my l life depended on it, I played a clarinet throughout grammar school jr high and even took lessons when I was older. I am bad and have no abilities, but my unskilled non ability did not deter me from doodling or making marks or buying a cheap Italian clarinet and once in a while playing it just for fun.
I still have my Buffet Crampon clarinet from PS, JHS and HS, but haven't played it in decades. I played bass clarinet one term and alto sax, but alas let it all go. I'm glad you continued. You should feel good about that.

Lol. Yeah. It’s fun to make it squawk.

What kind of Theremin did you get?

There is something to be said for having keys and hitting the note you want exactly instead of hoping you got it close enough for the digitizer to drop the note into the bucket.

Now you have some idea what us brass players need to deal with. :D

The Theremini is a pretty cool instrument and it has some really nice features for learning how to play it. That was a good choice. Have fun!

The didjeridu, yiḏaki, mandapul, mago are wood brass instruments. Look back a the progression of instruments I have started playing and the progression.

I'd like to delete all the posts about theremin's as they do not apply to my original post.

I would rather delete you.

Well your "ignore" option is always available, but seeing as how you haven't done so thus far, there's obviously some admiration for me. It's ok, I love you too bro.

All posts that attempt to inject levity should be struck from the thread too.

satire should be severely punished.

Members who go off on a digression should be similarly excoriated.

What's excoriated? That sounds a bit kinky.... perhaps fun even.

I like to keep my socks on while doing it....but only in winter.

edit: be careful though. It can lead to vituperation.

If I were to put you on ignore, I would miss the opportunities to see you make a fool of yourself.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::angel:

Older artists simply face older faces every time they look in the mirror. But younger folk look in the mirror, don't see what they like, so go out and get a bunch of tatoos, nose rings, and green or purple hair dye, look in the mirror again, and imagine they're now a real artiste.

eh... those are so numerous I'm sure at least a few would pop up in quotes at some point.
