Olympus OM-1n + Zuiko 28mm f/3.5

For interiors, a d****** compacts with good ISO performance.

Mamiya 7ii w/ 80mm & 43mm, Nikon S2 & 5cm

Or

Nikon F100, 70-200 VRii (instead of the S2 if I'm willing to carry a full-sized backpack)

I find the Canon FD 28-85mm f4 lens perfect for walking around with on holidays, I just clip it onto a Canon body, and it's usually all I need, it's hard enough schlepping around in hot weather without lugging heavy camera bags around.

My point is this: Not taking your vacation is absolutely stupid. Do not ever do this. Take your vacation time - you've earned it. You will not be valued more or appreciated for skipping your vacation and staying at work (especially if you're already working ~60 hours per week).
Bob is a small business owner. Whether he earns vacation time or not is not the question.

When I used to run my own small business it was always incredibly difficult to plan vacations.

I ran my machine shop for 7 years never having that problem. Took many vacations. Schedule in advance and inform the customers. Just takes planning and discipline.

Sadly, the practice of law (my case) doesn't always permit that sort of control over eventualities.
I'm sure other businesses do though.

I'm contemplating this set:
* Hasselblad SWC (wide angle for landscapes)
* Widelux F7 (panorama for cities)
and maybe
* Exa 1a with 50 mm Domiplan lens (street photography)
* Olympus Mju II (for when I can't bring a photo bag with me)
* Holga pinhole camera (smaller than my RSS 6x17)

Its "funny"...Attorneys and Cops. Not sure if the percentage of crappy ones are any much worse than any other Job/Profession, but.....I was in the painters union. Joining when i did in 1980, people at that time were SHOCKED to find that i:
1. Did not smoke cigarettes.
2. Was not or had not been an alcoholic.
3. Did not have work clothes that were Covered In Paint.
I suppose we all suffer from the "prejudice" that is attached to our jobs.

Okay,
I'm taking only one camera bag and it is packed:

- Hassy SWC (38 mm Biogon lens)
- Widelux F7 (panorama)
- Woca 120G (like Holga, before the name Holga was invented, but with a glass lens)
- Ondu 6x6 (always bring a pinhole camera)
- Nikon FM3A with 40/2.8P pancake lens (small, light and easy to use)
- about 40 films or so.

Believe me, this is traveling light for me. I heated your words so didn't bring the heavy stuff, like Mamiya C330f, Bronica GS-1 with 50 mm, Texas Leica, etc. I thought about bringing a Nikon F or Leica M4-2, but those haven't got a light meter and I'd like to use the FM3A again. That 40 mm lens is small, but fine. I took a small pinhole camera (6x6) instead of the large 6x17 RealitySoSubtle. And even the Hassy SWC is relativity light.

A million cameras are never too much!

We're going to Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina in September. I think I'll take along Praktica LTL with the Pentacon 1,8/50 for shooting slides. Possibly a Flektogon, too, if I can find one before the trip. For black and white, I'll take Zenit-C with 50 mm Industar and 37 mm Mir-1V. For medium format I'll probably take the Moskva-2. Slides will be Velvia, medium format b&w Fomapan 100. For 35 mm b&w I'll probably take Delta 3200 for night-time and something slow for daytime. The Mediterranean light calls for ISO 100 or even 50.

The next holiday trip is going to be Michigan in autumn.
I have not decided what to bring along.

Kiev 60
+ Zodiak 30 Fisheye
+ CZJ Flektogon 50 F4
+ No battery needed for operation
- Not the most reliable camera, sometimes frame spacing issues.

Mamiya M645
+ Mamiya 45mm
+ Reliable
- needs a battery

Rolleicord 1 Mod.2
+ Bring a German 1930s camera to the USA
- No wide angle lens

Zorki 4
+ 50mm and 35mm lenses
+ Small
- only "Fullframe" instead of middle format

I think it will be the Kiev, because of the nice lenses and 6x6, the Rolleicord because I want to shoot some proper German engineering and a Zorki, because you can't go wrong with an additional RF camera anyway.

I think this thread could have benefited from an initial definition of Holiday/Vacation.
I admire the dedication some of you guys have. (Thumbs Up icon implied)

Last year I took an Leica M5 with a 50DR, which is bit heavy and a 35 'cron. This year will either be the same with a pre-asph 50 'cron for the weight instead of the DR.

In the past I've taken a Mamiya 7ii with two lenses (65 and 43) or an M6 Leica with a 35 and 50. The funny thing is, I'll be sure for weeks then completely change my mind the night before. I will never take my Nikon F5 again, way too heavy, but I might just take an F100 with a 50 and a 28.

Don't forget the staycation!:whistling:

I'm back from Italy and what a beautiful country! I visited the region "La Marche" with beautiful mountains and the Adriatic Sea.
I spend a lot of time with the family so not too much shooting. Still, I was able to shoot 6 cameras and 12 rolls films almost all in one afternoon hick through the countryside and two small, old villages:

Hasselblad SWC (38 mm Biogon): 1x Portra 160, 2x Ektar 100
Ondy 6x6 pinhole: 1x Fuji NPC160 (exp. 2004) and 1x Konica PRO 400 (exp. 2006)
Woca 120G (=Holga with glass lens): 1x Kodak Tri-X
Olympus Mju II: 1x Kodak High Def 200 and 1x Agfa Vista 200
Nikon FM3A (with 40/2.8P): 1x Kodak Ektar 100, 1x Agfa Vista 200 and 1x Fuji NPH400 (exp.) accidentally exposed at ISO100
Widelux F7 (panorama): Kodak Portra 160

I hope to have the first results back from the lab after this weekend.

I just came back from Barcelona yesterday , also not much shooting (more time with the wife): 6 films with M6+5cm/3,5 Elmar.
