What camera are you lusting after, and why?

Dream camera: A long lens equivalet of the Hasselblad SWC/M. Maybe a 350mm lens. Zone focus. Optical finder.

At some point I´m going to offload some 35mm material I don't use anymore, maybe after that I can get what I want.

One Supreme Wide from Hasselblad, I would love to put my hands on that legendary Biogon!

Photography is not for the faint of wallet ...

I have a Horizon and it is a lot of fun. Enough that I would love to have a Noblex, maybe even one that shoots 120!

Minolta Maxxum 7 or 9. Upgrade to my 650si. Although I am using 35mm so little these days, this might not be such a good idea.

Mamiya 7. I'm using an RB as my main camera right now and love the format. But I would trade it for a "7" with 3 lenses. However, since the RB costs so much less ...

And I won't mention the other technology ... :rolleyes:

I'd like a Canham whole plate w/4x5 reducing back and a Canham 8x10.

I want the whole plate so that I can use all my lenses for that format on one camera (for both vertical and horizontal compositions). At the moment, I have to switch cameras if I want to use any lens longer than 355 mm and I only have one holder for the camera with the long bellows (whereas I have five for the camera with the short bellows).

4x5: Same reasoning as the whole plate. My current 4x5 is limited in bellows length.

8x10: Been lusting after one for a while, but don't have the funds for it at the moment.

Hmm, yes, a 120 Noblex. Thanks for reminding me, David. I rented one a couple of times a few years back and it was a ton of fun. Amazing camera. Hassy Superwide would be a second choice.

Next to those, it would be the Perfect Camera, of course. We all know that one doesn't exist.

Having recently purchased a Linhof Master Kardan TL 10x8 and discovered it is not the ideal field camera (I can scarecely lift it in it's flight box which will not fit in the car anyway...

A trip to Robert White to select a more portable 10x8 Shen Hao, Wista, Toyo, Canham.

Would love an Ebony 10x8 but the price!!!!

A sturdy 7"x17" camera with 6 film holders. I have a few hundred sheets of 14x17 X-ray film in my refrigerator waiting to be cut in half. Of course, if an actual 1x17 camera fell into my lap (ouch!!) I would not complain.

But I would settle for an 11x14 camera and holders. I already have an extra 11x14 dark slide to cut down to make 5.5"x14" images.

Rollei SL66 .... The Rollei has bellows focus independent of the lens, but I don't know as much about the mount.

We have a couple of Rollei sl66 here in my house, and yes - it is quite easy to fit old lenses on it..
Petzval's tend to be large lenses, but some of the fun small lenses Jim Galli is talking about can easily fit...

and yes; I'd love to have a wide angle rollei and the tele also..

I now have 5 Gandolfi's in different sizes, so the only version I "need" would be a quarter plate or a 4x5...

Ah, but there lies the rub...we all have the same amount of hours in a day (except that where one lives will determine the number of daylight hours in a given day!). Ultimately it is up to the individual how one spends that time. Based on the premise that an artist will create art when not creating art becomes too painful, I suppose how much time one carves out for one's art then depends on one's pain threshold

Now I just want more time to use what I have already - that is my biggest wish, to regain creativity, time enough and the pleasure of making pictures

This is not the only reason some of us desire different cameras. Cameras are tools, and like any other craft, the right tool for the job makes the job easier. There is also a factor of the ergonomics of particular camera designs and how they may or may not fit a particular individual. It is not always about thinking a new camera will make us better photographers.

I have a rickety DIY 11x14 made out of Toyo parts and a repro back of some sort, but I'd really like something more robust and portable. The good thing about setting my sights on an Ebony is that this has helped me to walk away from some of the eBay 'bargains' that crop up from time to time.

Funny, since the Deardorff V-8 showed up, there is a lacking in acquisition lust around here. Although a 450mm M series lens would look nice on it.

Perhaps replace the B&J Watson 5x7 with another Deardorff, perhaps if a M4-P or a 6001 fell out of the sky I wouldn't throw them away, but I thinks I have what I need finally to actually go out and make pitchers.
