With the recent acquisition of a Fotoman 45PS, I'm very satisfied with what I have. Would like to off load some of the less used stuff...and, maybe pick up a fast 85mm AI-S Nikkor...

Not so short wish-list...
  • A Nikon F6 and a Nikkor AF-S 50/1.4 or a Nikkor 24-70/2.8 for snapshots when there is no time to think. (Budget option: Nikon F75 + 50/1.8?)
  • A Bronica ETRSI with a metered prism or a Pentax 645 with a 75mm for more serious snapshots when there is some time to think. And/or a Bronica GS-1 (still hand-holdable) for photo excursions.
  • A black Nikon FM3A and a Ultron 40mm/2 to carry with me at all times (?)
  • A Voigtlander Bessa III to carry with me at all times (!?)
  • An ARAX 60 with ARAX 80mm lens and a metered prism (just because I'm curious to try one out ?)
What I have:
  • Lomo LC-A from 1986, recently magically resurrected by Roger Lean
  • 1 x Nikon FE2 chrome, 2 x FM3A chrome + mf lenses from 16mm to 200mm
  • 3 x Rolleicords (Ia triotar, III xenar, V xenar) from my grandfather. CLA'd a year ago by Jurgen Kuschnik at RolleiSerivice
What I have decided to buy:

  • Just ordered 20 rolls of Kodak Ektar 100 from Adorama.com as there is still no sign of this film being available here in Sweden and I want to try it out.

  • Also considering 10 rolls of Fuji Provia 400x (I like the colours) and 10 rolls of Tri-X 400 (I like the grain and tonality) to take me through the dark season...
Regards,
Erik Ehrling (Sweden)

I have more than one camera in the "lusting after" list: a (chrome) Nikon FM3A, a Hasselblad 500C and a Canham 5x12...

I'm saving up so I can afford some lust. For now I'm shooting with cameras and film on hand. I have enough of both to keep me happy and busy for a while.

If I can't shoot a decent picture with what I got there isn't going to be anything out there that can help. My real desire now is for less cameras.

I'm with you W.A.

If the names in my house can't take a decent picture, it's not the names fault.

Nikon FM2 w 35 2.0 + 105 2.5 AIS lens
Mamiya rb67 + C220 w just about every lens.
Speed graphic with Fuji LF 150/6.3
Deardorff 8x10 w/ Ektar Commercial lens...

I keep the other cameras around just to give my photos funk.

My short list:

F4S -- I've had these before and find it to be a great camera to use. I love the feel and the easy placement of the controls.

F3HP -- It has a great feel to it. I purchased one a little while ago -- was supposed to be in perfect condition -- but it doesn't work. Cosmetically it's very good but the ISO dial doesn't work and I believe the shutter speeds are off. Perhaps a repair visit is in order.

FM2n -- I had one of these for quite a few years and just love the simplicity of it. Great feel and easy to carry.

This is not the only reason some of us desire different cameras. Cameras are tools, and like any other craft, the right tool for the job makes the job easier. There is also a factor of the ergonomics of particular camera designs and how they may or may not fit a particular individual. It is not always about thinking a new camera will make us better photographers.
I appreciate the points you make David, I was speaking personally, but you must admit that many of us tend to think this way, and blame the tools when the results are unsatisfactory . I decided years ago that the cameras I have are more than adequate, and if I can't make good pictures with them it's me, not the equipment.

Many tools are good, but some do, actually, suck. Unreliable cameras, like the last two Fujica AX-3's I've owned, just frustrate you.

Would have to say I have it, Richard Ritter 8x10 with a 7x11 back...

However, since we are dreaming, a Ritter 11x14 or 8x20 would be nice, but then I would have to wish for the space in the darkroom to process and print.

Sooooooo, I will stick to my original statement...I have a Great camera (with a 240 Germinar, 300 Fuji and 450 Fuji) and kit, so maybe a nice 150ish lens in a Copal No 1 would be nice.

I'm lusting over the Richard Ritter 8x10 that I've paid a deposit for but can't yet afford to complete payment on... ;-) Even more so at the moment given the £-->$ rate

Lust!

After three years of Ebay I am happy to say that there are no cameras that I am lusting after. I have a Mamiya RB67 (and a few lenses) a Rollieflex 2.8C, Nikon F, and the camera that I choose above all others, a Fuji GW690. I could easily get rid of all the others but the Fuji is the camera for me. So I suppose the you could say that I am lusting after a newer Fuji as I am worried about the longevity of my present camera.

I'm lusting after a medium format version of the Hasselblad Xpan with 6x6 and panoramic options at the flick of a switch.

Sadly it doesnt exist....

Linhof Technica V 4x5 and Schneider Lenses.

Because I already have 3 Leica M, 1 Rollei TLR, 1 Rollei 6008i, 2 Nikon SLR, 2 rubbish and souless Pro DSLR and a waste of money.

But I don't have a large format camera that delivers much more soul and dynamic range.

OM-3Ti

I wanted an Olympus OM-3Ti since they came out in 1995. I just got one last week.

Wonderful!

Somebody mentioned an SLR Leica the size of an M. The Olympus OM line is as close as you'll ever get.

My kit currently contains: OM-2S, OM-3Ti, OM-4Ti and an Olympus E-1. Life is good.

A Bessa III. Don't know why, really. I've recently got the folding camera bug, and here a new one is about to hit the market...

I have every camera I need - a Hasselblad 500 series, Holga, pinhole, a great 4x5, and a Canon Elan 7n 35mm. But lately I've secretly been lusting for one of the Fuji 645 rangefinders. Those are neat little cameras that would be handy for shooting hand held.
