65°F [~18°C] it is so cold here that we even have to wear a sweater! How can people live like this?

On the road from Connecticut to Florida for a family vacation, we're holed up in North Carolina waiting out this snowstorm.

We had the first snowfall of the season yesterday, now a week of grey and rainy to look forward to. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Warmer outside than inside the house this morning. Not a lot of rain yet -- only 1/3 inch each over the last two nights. We'll get more today judging from the satellite images. I developed a few rolls of TriX 120 yesterday -- got 6 sheets of Tech Pan 4x5 loaded in the 3006 Expert Drum, so that will occupy me for a while today!

The "cold snap" here on the usually mild and wet coast has been going on for 5 weeks now. Snow/freezing rain predicted for tonight. Colder temps later this week. No end in sight in the 2 wk forecast. My darkroom is separate from the house. The heater is keeping it from freezing, but it's not very useable when the weather's this cold. Some winters I don't loose any time in it; most winters a week or two.
This winter ..... grrrr, whinge, grrrrr.

A little over an inch of rain overnight -- certainly not unusual for Humboldt County. The satelitte photos still shows a lot of rain piled up off the coast just waiting to come over us.

They just got one lane open around a slide on the main hwy east after a month of being closed -- then promptly reclosed the highway due to another slide. Still only one lane open in a couple places going north and going south on the coastal highway. The mountains around here were built to fall down (all churned up and uplifted from the ocean bottom)! Kinda nice being so isolated!

Cold snap on the verge of breaking finally. Been around 32-35 deg F for the highs and mostly sunny for the past week or so. Yesterday, finally got up to about 44 or so. Supposed to be 47 and mostly cloudy tomorrow, then 50-52 and rainy with some wind for Tuesday and Wednesday. Dropping back into the 40s by Thursday.

We've had a very warm day. Broke the record high temperature by 8 degrees F.
Similar forecast for tomorrow.

Then Thursday and Friday highs around freezing. Ain't spring wonderful?

Record snow falls around here.

Lots of deep power since it has been snowing the last few days. No, not Los Angeles, I am in Banff and Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada.

Welcome to Alberta, depending on how long you are there, you may see the power of the Chinook winds as the current -20F turns into +35F by Sunday.

Still raining...but got up this morning to 59F as another storm approaches.
