The last few days have been peak of fall colors in the pacific northwest. I started making photos of them mid-September, using both color film and some Fuji FP-100C, then thought I was done. Not so: these last few days have been amazing. Just driving or walking around and seeing great photo opportunities everywhere. Having made so many photos, I didn't want to diminish my film supplies further, so I switched to my D700 yesterday.

Heading south next month for a return to summer-like weather.

It's a balmy 17f this morning! But on the bright side(literally) the sun is blazing and we're expecting a high of 22f. First time in well over two weeks we have had bright sun instead of gloomy overcast, rain and snow.

Here in N.W. Louisiana in the U.S., it was 45 degrees F. Right now, blue sky, bright sun. Trees are just beginning to change color. Best time of the year. Today is a holiday, "Thanksgiving". Tomorrow, we have rain predicted. We'll see. Weather is very unpredictable here. Mid-Continent meets Gulf of Mexico weather in our area. Hope your weather meets with your approval wherever you are.........Regards!

We had 0.8" in the last 24 hours, light rain and some wind so far this morning. Lower 50sF (12C). Locally, the rain is not heavy enough to cause major problems....usually the first good rain of the season does not soak into the ground well and there is excess run-off -- in addition to fires, etc. Our local highways are all open which is a good sign. Smoke has been knocked down. No excuse to walk to the Post Office today, but might anyway to see if our seasonal creek through town has come back to life yet.

We are lucky here. We had a close call the day the Camp Fire started -- we had a string of fires along the highway just outside town and heading east. Appearently a truck and/or trailer was dragging a chain. If we had any wind that afternoon it would have been a different story as it could have blown the fire into town. By early morning all the fires were contained and/or put out.

About -5C on Wednesday night; there was a lot of frost on the parked cars as I walked to the railway station to catch an early train to Edinburgh (nice sunrise though). Then it turned all drizzly and stayed that way all day!

Weather was changeable today - from heavy, gray, and rainy to sun, and back again.
Right now - Sitting in a hot tub, under the full moon. 8C on the nearby thermometer. The jets are turned off - I can hear the swollen river on the other side of the road rushing to the sea.

Started out cloudy this am, a light rain late in the morning extending into early afternoon, followed by a few brief periods of sunshine, then back to a light rain.

Sunshine, light wind, 57F. Time to toss some horseshoes with some of the local boys. Pits will be a little damp. Might the last time this season...but we said that last Sunday. Five or so days of rain predicted starting Tuesday, so we'll see!

Yes, beer will be involved. Then after shoes, I'll cook a quick potato dish for the monthly potluck at the bar nextdoor. After dinner, I'll fool around with bleaching some 5x7 and 8x10 negatives -- I'll see if I can do more good than harm.

Had a nasty wind storm yesterday. A man lost his life on Vancouver Island from falling tree. Another man was left stranded on the pier at White Rock. Had to be rescued by Canadian Forces helicopter. The waves were incredible.

Recent Chinook winds 50 to 90 KPH (in S. Alberta) removed most of the last snow-fall (due to sublimation rather than temperature) which has precluded going out with my 4x5 Linhof to be (somewhat) creative.... The worst is still to come in the next two months. The older I get, the harder it becomes to "put up' with negative 30 degrees C.
