Whereas Buffalo had the snow squall line, the Seattle area had the usual Puget Sound Convergence Zone set up yesterday. Dumped rain all day and night in the northern Snoqualmie Valley (where Duvall is), yet, later in the day in Woodinville (about 15 miles west), it stopped raining. Today was drier, but still kinda showery at times. Pressure washer is supposed to turn back on in a few hours.

Many in the U.S.A confuse four-wheel-drive with all-wheel-drive. Also, some of our "four-wheel-drive" vehicles aren't fully so (in other words, no limited-slip differentials).

I have an F250 Super Duty with lockers, I didn't even consider locking up. My daughter and I were shopping 20 miles away,coming down off of the mountain I just shifted down and stayed off the brakes, once on the flats I kept it to no more than 40mph. I passed a car that was doing 15mph, that wouldn't get out of any ones way, had to follow for nearly two miles until I could pass. A good friend came back from State College through a place called Wycoff Run, his response to coming out alive was cool, can you say "luge". Four wheel drive is dangerous on ice, better to be in two wheel unless you own an "all wheel drive". They didn't open the roads until nearly 10 pm last night, by then the temps had risen and the salt trucks had a chance to open things up.

it was in the 60s-70s a few days before that
and today the thermometer says it is 58ºF
its not windy thought it was windy before ..

72F and sunny yesterday. Expecting 4 inches of snow tomorrow, the busiest travel day of the year. Should be interesting.

After two days in the 50's and 60's most of the snow has gone. Many of the creeks in the area are at flood stage, but thankfully the flooding is not as bad as predicted.
When you live in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter all wheel drive vehicles are very popular. I have a Subaru Forester and just put on a new set of snow tires. Needless to say I got were I needed to go in the snow. The tires are mounted on there own wheels and I will switch them out in the spring for road tires. I don't care for all season tires as they are a poor compromise for either summer or winter.

SW Iowa - slush fell last night and now it's deciding between rain and flurries. Since they don't believe in using salt on the roads here, so much for going shopping today for clothes for the class I have to take next week (need to dress nicely and I just have jeans). Guess I get to shop on Saturday and hope everyone goes on Friday.

First serious snow storm for the season is in progress here. Two hours ago you could barely tell the snow had started, and now the ground is completely covered. Got the motorcycle put away yesterday, which is my reluctant admission that the no-snow season is over.

As for driving, I've driven through many blizzards up here where the only vehicles off the road (and in many cases upside-down) were 4wd SUV's and pickups. I've never seen much need for anything besides 2 wd and decent snow tires, though FWD helps too.

I'm happy with a little more heat- my tomato vines are loaded with fruit and the tomatoes are taking longer to ripen, so I'm happy to see them get a boost!

Wow, good for you. You are fortunate to still be getting garden tomatoes. Cool weather took out my tomatoes. The heirloom varieties I tried this year were very tasty but the vines seemed more sensitive than some of the "garden variety" tomato. Eggplant is all that is left of the summer garden, and they aren't too happy but they are bearing a late crop. Planted brocollini and Brussels this fall. Plus some beets and turnip. Might try to get in some cabbage but I might e too late.

It's not very cold - about 27F (-2.7C). We got twice the predicted snow; it wasn't bad, but the snow was compacted and slippery, so driving home from Thanksgiving dinner at my best friend's house was a bit slow while listening Persistence of Time by Anthrax.

Start your cabbage now, and I bet there won't be a problem. We won't be putting in winter crops for a while yet. One reason the tomatoes are doing well is that they were a second planting in July. Some are starting to let their old leaves die, but the new growth is still strong, and the tomatoes are still bountiful!

Barely above freezing, gray and blustery yesterday. Clear sky and bright sunshine this morning high of 51F. Very like the Thanksgiving day weather I remember growing up in Denver.

O_D sorry you are snowed in and w/o power, but I love the landscape with that kind of snow.

In southern California we put snow on the mountains for the skiers and snowboarders and ice goes in drinks and on skating rinks. It is not a difficult concept, the rest of should should use this concept.

Highs in the low-mid 30's, lows in the upper teens to lower 20's, courtesy of the Fraser River valley up north.

Yes, that's a photograph of myself, taken a few hours ago. No, I wasn't cold. Not a big snowstorm, more like the typical spotty snow showers overnight last night. I do need to swap over to the studs, if only to have tread on the front end of the car. Summer tires are worn out.

It was 63F yesterday and there are flurries this morning with a predicted high of 28F. "Normal" for this area at this time is mid-40s.
