Voightlander Perkeo II Jammed

Seeking any help from the "folder community"...

Just received a Voightlander Perkeo II that I bought through eBay and on the first roll of film, the shutter button and film transport froze/jammed/whatever after 4 successful frames. After exposing frame 5, I couldn't wind on the film. My guess is is that the double-exposure prevention "feature" is locking the camera up. After some Google searching and reading of the manual to find a resolution, I think I've covered all the "secrets" to free this puppy. Anybody have any ideas that I could try?

P.S. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I e-mailed Jurgen (of certo6.com) and his take on it is that something probably happened to the frame counter / double exposure linkages. Apparently, these linkages can be persnickety.

Is the shutter cocking lever in the down position? If not cover the lens with your hands or put the camera in a darkroom bag (for preventing multiple exposure), press down on the shutter cocking lever and see if the shutter will fire. If it does you should then be able to advance the film. My Perkeo II does this once in a while, but not enough for me to have it sent away to have it repaired.

Yes, the counter/double-exposure mechanism is finicky, especially as regards dirt. The gears are very thin, very close together, and thus prone to jamming. The best solution is to pull the top plate and clean everything in there thoroughly (it's not a terribly complicated mechanism). I did this after I got mine, which would occasionally lock up (seems a fairly common problem), and it has been 100% since.

I've had the same experience as Chrismat above. Usually the issue, I've found, is pushing the shutter cocking lever far enough to engage the double exposure prevention mechanism, but not enough for the lever to stay there before pressing the shutter release.
